Re: How would it run if these parts were shot.....

1) Plugs/HT leads/Dizz/Rotor Poor or uneven running. Lumpy idle and lack of power at speed. 2) ECU Coolant Temp Sensor The ECU would probably try to adjust the engine to make it run hotter/colder depending on what the dodgy sensor was telling it. If the ECU richens the mixture and retards the timin...

Re: Turbo ( trouble?) or N/A GT168bhp? (slow?)

With all respect I couldn't disagree more with you here. My car is far from stock, runs 0-60 in 4secs and covers the 1/4 mile in 12 secs. Yet I use it every day to and from work and on busy London roads! The MR2 is a comfy place to be even when you are 6,4ft and all legs lol You truly can have this...

Re: Turbo ( trouble?) or N/A GT168bhp? (slow?)

Can't speak about the MR2 itself, since I don't actually own one yet, but I gotta say that the pursuit of more and more "speed" can end up ruining a decent car. I used to own a 911 turbo and I spent a fortune on it. It was a real missile. It was only when I was driving a hired Vectra 2.5D ...

Re: what is this stuff and how do i clean it?

Did anybody ever tell you that aluminium doesn't rust? Now you know they lied. That's your classic aluminium corrosion. The surface is machined and polished in the factory and then coated in clear laquer. Once stone-chips start to damage the laquer water can get in and then, after a few month...

Re: Engine Steam cleaned.

I used to jet wash my car every weekend, when I lived t home, including the engine. My dad had the area franchise for Kew so there was always one or two around the house somewhere. I never had a problem with it but I'm sure you *could* screw up your car if you weren't careful. The trick is to not ai...

Alarm questions

Hi, I'm currently in the market for an MR2 and I have a couple of questions about alarms. 1) If I buy a car with an Cat 1 alarm but no paperwork, can I take it to an approved garage, get them to check it and get all the insurance-friendly paperwork issued? How much will this cost? 2) How much does a...

Re: MR2 Newb requires info

So, for openers, I *could* look at engine codes and what-not but, basically, so long as it's got a "twin cam - 16 valve" sticker on the side (and the matching engine) it's definately not the 120HP model? Any of you guys got a car with the early engine? I mean, if 120HP is "enough"...

MR2 Newb requires info

Hey, So, I just kind of decided to buy myself an MR2 as a spur-of-the-moment thing today. I'd been planning on buying a motorbike but I figured there's less chance of winding up dead with a car so I thought I'd have a nose around and see what's fun. The plan is, officially, that it'll be a car for t...
