Re: ABS fault

Vaguely related but is there a link to where I might look at the list of ABS fault codes that includes this one? I've just had some ABS issues myself and the internet page I refered to doesn't list that fault. http://stephenmason.com/cars/mr2abscode.html Incidentally, it might be worth resetting the...

Anybody ever shattered their T-bar glass?

Just wondering if anybody's got any experiences of how strong the T-bar glass actually is? Just curious really. I'm sure we've all "dinged" the glass against the roof or the door or whatever as we've been moving them about but I was just wondering how much abuse they'll take? For example, ...

Turns out that the front brakes have seized up Its your fault how? did you scare the biker with your mr2 while following? :? He blames me cos I "didn't check it over before letting the guy ride it". Thing is, he doesn't live around here BUT he was back in town for a few days and ye...

[Mk2] [NA] Noise from steering pump on start-up?

Just wondering if this is normal? When I start the car up with the bonnet open I can hear a whirring noise from (I assume) the power-steering pump. It goes on for about 30 seconds, gradually getting slower and slower, and then stops completely. - If I stop the car and then restart it the same thing ...

Re: Test drive crash

can not have been insured then if it was sorned :-k My MR2 is insured but SORNd. (Soon back on the road though, been moth balled last few months!) Although I doubt they'd pay out if it was used on the road - passenger might be eligible for compo if the car was indeed insured, although I suspect it ...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Gear Indicator LED display

I'm a sucker for gadgets like this but whether I'd actually fit one or not would probably depend on how fiddly it is to hook the sensors up to the gear linkage. To me, it's the sort of thing that'd be cool if it was "plug n play" but if I had to spend a day digging around to get to the gea...

Erm, you're using the code you're supposed to use for inserting pictures off other internet websites.

You'll need to upload the pictures onto the internet before displaying them.

Re: [All] [NA] Which Mk2 to buy?

Air bags became standard at Revision 4 which may have added a kilo or two. ABS also became standard, but the system fitted was lighter than on previous revisions. Two small metal plates were added to the chassis at the front of the car. Other than that, I can't think why revision 4 would have gaine...

Re: what alarm?

It'll definitely be worth getting something fitted for you, just to get the certificate. I was quoted £280 to insure my n/a but the insurance broker forgot about the immobiliser. After I faxed them a copy of the cert the quote went down to £145. Out of interest, I phoned up the garage that installed...

Re: Recommended PC games

Crysis is an interesting game but, erm, it's not perfect. I tried playing it on one of the harder settings a year or so ago and it was just ridiculously hard. It got to the point where it simply didn't matter what weapons were available because the ONLY way to reliably kill even the weakest enemy is...

Re: what alarm?

i was thinking of a kill switch that i can keep in my pocket of the fob so that if i get car jacked i can press the switch and shut the car down. ive heard that you can get them but no clue were. FWIW, that's a very good idea. You could probably build something suitable with about £20 of bits off e...

Re: [All] [NA] Which Mk2 to buy?

I think the OP has the right idea in general. Rev 1 & 2 3SGE had 150-odd BHP then it went up to 170-odd with the Rev3 but then, later on (and I'm not completely sure about this) I think the power dropped off again by a couple of BHP and (more importantly) the car got heavier as well so performan...

Re: Any native Japanese speakers here?

Fair enough. If you haven't yet tried it the live-search one might surprise you. I know they used to kinda suck but I was quite surprised at how good it was when I needed to translate a chinese website about electronic stuff recently. I DO know a couple of guys in Japan so if you want to PM me the l...

Re: Any native Japanese speakers here?

If you're using IE8 you should be able to just click anywhere on the page and then, about 1/3rd of the way down the menu, there should be an option for "Translate with live-search". This'll open up a new window showing the Jap text on one side and translation on the other side. Note that t...

Re: what alarm?

Worth thinking about... An approved immobiliser is a lot cheaper than a comparable alarm. Maybe consider having an immobiliser fitted (to get yourself the insurance certificate) rather than an alarm OR get the immobiliser fitted and then find yourself a simple pager-thing off eBay and install it you...

Re: Duff rad cap?

Was just outside mucking about with my engine so I thought I'd give this a check while I was there... I get nothing coming out of the rad cap until I press the button on the top of the cap. I assume the idea is that the system remains closed until the temperature hits 0.9 bar and then, when/if it hi...

^^^^^^^^^^^^ That'll be REV 5 arch flaps fitted to rev 5 cars. Was it only the rev5 that had them? I thought it was rev3 onwards. :-k Not sure where I got that idea though so it's likely I'm wrong. At some point I'm going to try making some for myself. I've heard people saying they do make a pretty...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Kenwood DNX install

I know I already made a thread about it but I had a similar Kenwood stereo and the GPS didn't work so I ignored it for over a year. Recently got a new lease of enthusiasm and finally, after a few emails to Kenwood, got it all working. Can't praise the guys at the Kenwood support centre highly enough...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] How to remove mastic from paintwork??????

FWIW, somebody decided to bond fake carbon bits to my Ducati with silicone stuff and it was a pig getting it off. I found that a bag of plastic picnic knives from Tesco for 99p was ideal for the job. They have serrated edges which you can use to saw at the silicone without worrying too much about yo...
