Re: What is your favourite 'quirky' thing on your MR2?

Don't have to take your hand off the steering wheel to flick the indicators! Unless you have really small fingers....? :-k True enough, most of the time. :) Just seems like if I'm gonna have to take my hand off the wheel to change gear it's safer to use the same hand to operate the indicator. Movin...

Re: Wheel bolts

You will have had some aftermarket wheels that have conical holes for the nuts. MOST aftermarket wheels have this design but for some reason, these alloys have the same flat nut pattern as the OEM bolts so mine went on very well and tight, but like yours, they stick out quite a bit and it looks a b...

Re: What is your favourite 'quirky' thing on your MR2?

Guess it'just lucky for me then.

Like I say, it seems safer to have the controls configured in such a way that means one hand remains on the wheel while the other takes care of gears and indicators.

Re: Super Slow Drivers - The Worst Drivers?

I once saw a lorry driver holding a paperback book with the hand he had on the steering wheel while, at the same time, pouring tea out of a flask into a cup he had on the dashboard. I saw it pretty close up too cos, at the time I was in front of a row of 3 cars he was forcing onto the hard shoulder ...

Re: Wheel bolts

How well do the wheelnuts actually screw onto the studs? When I bought my new allows I tried fitting them with OEM wheelnuts (cos they were nice and shiny) but they only went on by a couple of threads and stuck out quite a bit. I guess the taper on the new wheels is at a different angle to the OEM w...

Re: What is your favourite 'quirky' thing on your MR2?

I will have to say my favourite is the side the indicator/headlight stalk is on. It means i can indicate and flash cars without having to move my hand off the gearstick! All RHD cars should be like this. It makes perfect sense :thumleft: I always thought the opposite was true. If the indicato...

Re: What is your favourite 'quirky' thing on your MR2?

So...we all love the car. We love the speed, the sound it makes, the general body styling etc etc....but what is your favourite 'quirky' thing on your car? Is it the way the seat belts retract on an import when the door opens? It could be the pop up headlights? It's a Toyota. There's nothing quirky...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Exhaust help needed ASAP - thanks in advance

A bit of searching on eBay for "MR2 exhaust" or "MR2 cat" and "MR2 decat" will give you a good idea of what's available. About the only thing worth paying attention to, IMO, is to get yourself a cat-back exhaust, a cat AND a decat pipe then bolt it all together with sta...

Re: Finding a chassis number from a number plate?

You wont be able to tell the rev's on the reg numbers. Only way is to ask for the chassis numbers. You MAY be able to tell the year and month of manufacture if you have an ebay account, try and start a for sale auction and type in the reg numbers.....i may have a go....hold on ! It might be possibl...

Re: 2.2 Stroker kit

A friend told me that strokers weren't able to rev too high. Is this true? What makes it dangerous to rev too high? The longer the stroke of an engine, the lower the RPMs are gonna be because the piston needs to travel further which means it has to move faster which, in turn, means there are bigger...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Winddeflector SW20.

Be interesting to see how well they work but I'd be surprised if they actually solve the problem completely. I would have thought the air flow would be too turbulent (cross-winds and vortexes which alter at different speeds) for a single, static, device to cure it completely. I dunno. I kinda think ...

Re: £35 = 1/4 tank?? Please help!!

Well, I suppose you could drain all the fuel out of the tank then pour a gallon back in and set the needle so it's just off the empty mark. I find that the needle takes about 5 minutes to stabilise after filling the car up so it's probably wise to leave any adjustments until at least half an hour af...

Great stuff. :thumleft:

Dual filament bulbs are dodgy like that.
If the filament blows and a broken end of the filament touches against the other filament all sorts of odd things can happen.

FWIW, I didn't touch the E-clip.

I just slid that big square clip out and fed the banjo bolt through the hole.

Re: What is the difference between tie bars and drop links?

What are the bars that are on the front and go diagonally forward from near the hub to a under the frunk area? On any Mcpherson strut suspension system they're usually called "control arms". So, anyway... I was looking underneath my car today and I noticed that BOTH of these arms (the one...

Re: Rattling noise from behind dash at speed?

Well, that was an interesting afternoon... Front wheelarch protectors turned out to be the culprit. I suspect there's a bit of a design issue at work here. The front wheelarch protectors go all the way arounf the wheelarch and then go forward about 6" and end with a downward-angled lip. I'm gue...

Re: Right, does anyone have any tips/advice for removing brake lines?

There's a big square-shaped C-clip on the damper which you need to remove. After you've done that you can disconnect the hose from the caliper and from the joint on the inner wing and thread the hose through the bracket on the damper to remove it. A lot of people bodge this by cutting a slot into th...
