Re: Car won't start - ideas/help... ***UPDATE - STILL FUBARRED!!***
So pulled the ECU wiring today in order to see if that had any effect.... No change on the parasitic electrical draw. So more investigation is needed. There's a rogue cable in the boot which I think was originally from the ECU... Just need to find out exactly where :-k http://i1111.photobucket.com/a...

Well the car is still off the road... It worked fine for a day and then I went to fire it up the next day and it's got exactly the same issues as before. Dead battery and a parasitic drain #-o Well it clearly wasn't the alternator but at least it's fitted with a brand new one and I've got a fully wo...

Good chat - next tests done with results below :thumleft: I'm catching criminals this afternoon  leave for work in about half an hour... So I disconnected the three pronged alternator lead again... That bloody thing is a pain in the ass to get off! Did a voltage test on the three port...

I've done x2 double shifts in work so I hadn't been able to do the test you suggested until this morning... I unplugged all the fuses in the engine bay fuse box.... http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h480/KarlHopkins999/C9AD181F-251B-4CE5-8DBD-AF255E9635DB_zpsai80izn9.jpg No change at all. So I als...

Re: HELP!! Alternator issue?
A bit too far for me to lend a hand I'm afraid I couldn't make out from your first post but is the issue definitely the alternator or do you need one in order to establish if the current alternator is at fault? If your not sure if the alternator is at fault the following tests might help: Voltage ch...

Re: Car won't start - ideas/help... ***UPDATE - STILL FUBARRED!!***
Right.... A bit of progress this evening I removed the three pin cable from the alternator this evening. My reading dropped from 0.41A to 0.04A I then plugged the three pin cable back in raising the reading back to 0.41A and set about pulling all the fuses again whilst measuring the electrical draw....

I will do it tomorrow and try to give you a bell - work depending :thumleft: Throwing ideas around but the absolute worst case scenario if I can't find the exact route of the issue, is that I install a kill switch on the alternator wire. Every time I get in the car I turn it on to engage the alterna...

Re: Car won't start - ideas/help... ***UPDATE - STILL FUBARRED!!***
Thoughts?? The diodes are fine in both alternators, and following tests today on both alternators they both turn out to be very healthy units. It's not the alternator at fault... There's something else going on. OK, do me a favour. Leave main alternator lead connected, but pull out 3 pin plug. I wi...

When the alternator is unplugged the electrical draw is only 0.014A so Im pretty sure it's not the immobiliser.
I'm thinking it's based more around the alternator/battery wiring... Somewhere lol.

Re: Car won't start - ideas/help... ***UPDATE - STILL FUBARRED!!***
Just re-tried it, and it's showing a drain of 0.41A It's reading this on both the positive and negative terminals if that means anything. I can only think that it might be a wire shorting out between the battery and the alternator, it's definitely not an earthing issue. Bit stuck now without more in...

Re: Car won't start - ideas/help... ***UPDATE - STILL FUBARRED!!***
UPDATE.... Well the brand new alternator was bought, delivered and fitted under the belief that the old one had been drawing current from the system. The car was run for 10 miles with the new alternator in and then tested. This was now only showing a drain of 0.014A as opposed to the old 0.278A Prob...

Car heater problem
My heater has never worked properly since I owned the car, and as the car is a daily driver and the cold days are quickly setting in its something that I'd like to sort out once and for all. In short I've got two issues. Once the car has been running and is up to temperature the heaters when on hot ...

Good idea on that rain tray. Just a thought though, would you not consider making it out of transparent Perspex. It's a shame that you've hidden half of that beautiful engine! Thanks - the car was in desperate need of one. I couldn't go through another alternator... I don't think I could afford it ...
