Re: [FINALIZED] Mk1 Mr2 20 valve Silvertop.
Thank you for all the kind comments guys. It's now sold! Went for £2300. The new owner is picking her up tomorrow. I replaced the cambelt and gave it a real good clean today, God it looks awesome! I'm really going to miss it. I'm sure I'll find one out in Australia, there just isn't anything else th...

Re: [FINALIZED] Mk1 Mr2 20 valve Silvertop.
Thanks Quigonjay those pictures look ten times better. I appreciate what you've done, whatever it was!
Thanks for your comments, It's taken me months to build it all back together. So many times I thought about breaking it for spares. Glad I didn't though in the end.

Re: [FINALIZED] Mk1 Mr2 20 valve Silvertop.
Thanks for your comments guys. I've noticed some peoples adverts have big pictures that cover the whole page and make their car look great! My piddley little pictures aren't really doing the car justice at all! I've dropped the price down to £2500 now as I've had no interest at £3k. Any tips on gett...

Mk1 Mr2 20 valve Silvertop.
Hello everyone, I've finally finished all the work on my beautiful Mk1 Mr2 Silvertop 20valve conversion. This is the result of months of hard graft and sweat! Recently re-sprayed in standard 3E5 Toyota Super Red 2 following an exhausting body restoration. I work as a technician in a large VW dealers...

How do I Post an ad for selling my car?
Hello Guys, I need to advertise my Mk1 and thought this site would be the best place. However it says I need special access to do this? What do I need to do to advertise a car in the For Sale part? I tried to find some way of contacting a moderator but it's proving fruitless! Any help would be appre...

Re: Best discs and pads?
If you can afford it then I'd recommend ADL (Blueprint) brake components. They're extremely good quality and some say they're the company that makes parts for the main Japanese manufacturers. I've bought Blueprint parts before and they are incredible quality. But the price does reflect that! A cheap...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Please help
Ahh.. it certainly does point to low oil level in the gearbox, especially with the change in gradient. Changing Input shaft bearings are quite complicated. They are press fitted onto the input shaft and only a vast array of presses, pullers and funky tools will change them. So It is really a special...

The key should allow you to open the door manually? Have you tried the key in both doors? You may have a shafted drivers door lock.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Current Drain
70m/a is way too much. A modern car with all it's technology is only around 40m/a. I don't know the exact figure but i would imagine it to be around 20 - 25m/a. You obviously have the equipment for checking a battery drain, start pulling fuses to see what circuit is causing your draw.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Electrical??? Shut off problem
Sorry for the delay, computer access is quite limited... Without a wiring diagram or details of how the component works, checking the TPS could be a bit tricky. First thing to do is check those error codes. It may flag up a problem that doesn't even concern the Throttle Position Sensor. You need a p...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Please help
A faulty clutch release bearing would produce more of a rumble rather than a grind. Check your gearbox oil level, like previously mentioned, it sounds more like a gearbox bearing. Input shaft bearing to be precise. The input shaft in the gearbox stops spinning when the clutch is depressed. When an e...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Electrical??? Shut off problem
Poor plug condition wouldn't cause the engine to die all of a sudden, there would be a running problem all the time. All four leads wouldn't fail simultaneously too, so rule that out. Blocked fuel filter, you would notice a power loss on accelaration. Possible distributor cap or rotor arm but normal...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Im ripping with my mr2 speedo please can someone help grrrrr
Have you got a Kilometer to Miles converter fitted? If so disconnect that for starters. If no joy then it sounds like a wiring problem in the engine bay to me. When you accelarate, the engine moves which subsequently moves the engine wiring loom. A break in the loom that connects then reconnects, ca...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Alternator Charging Lead
Does the red battery charge light work and go out when the car has started? Also check you're getting 14ish volts directly out the back of the alternator using a multimeter with the engine running. Was the original alternator definitely shagged? The chances of two faults on the same circuit occuring...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Does Drivers arm rest light up???
Going back to your original question, if you had three separate lights in the switch pack that were working, like in the picture, the chances of all three failing at the same time is astronomical! Try checking the wires behind the rubber gaitor near the hinges. Due to the opening and closing of the ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] !!!!cat problems!!!!
I work in a main dealer garage myself and have done for years. If when un-doing a nut or bolt and it's tight coming out, the general rule is to heat it up with the oxygen/acetylene bottles. To just turn a nut or bolt to the point where it snaps is quite unprofessional. You get a feel when working wi...
