Re: MR2 MK1 Aerodynamics

It would be interesting to see what the papal mod actually does with a hole cut behind the rad bulkhead. I am building a 3d printer but I doubt I can get a detailed enough model to print. I wonder if the 123D applications could make a precise model. Have tried it for small objects and it looked goo...

Restoration Thread

Ho guys, decided to break off the other thread which was more of a "blow-some-steam"-kind of thread and rather make a proper restoration thread. Old one is here: http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=170521 So i started with taking off a couple of bodyparts to reveal how bad the rus...

Re: ROM Ecu Remapping

Doing a reverse engineering on a ECU like that would be just out of personal interest. It simply takes way to much time to make it worthwhile other than as a academic exercise. Honestly, for a engineering service like that, 100£/hr would be typical, one would need about 30 hours to get a good overvi...

Re: Did a closer inspection on my car, bad news :(

Hi again, Just started on the basics on the refurbishing, trying to get a better overview of the rust issue which does not seem so bad after all. The rear panels looks quite solid actually, probably just have to weld in new arches instead of the complete panel. The whole trunk is also in very good n...

It`s just so beautiful Paul.

There is a few small things that is not in my category, but nothing that would drag it down from top score in my book. After all, beauty is in the eye of the beer holder ;)

Re: Project MRX350

This car belongs on a pornsite!!! It`s beautiful from bumper to bumper.

I`m not sure, but if it was possible to continue the skirt sealing around the arches, i think that would be a really cool look. Need to play a bit in photoshop ^^

Re: Project MRX350

It looks like the 80`s that dashboard, and in a good way. Personally I`d have made separate digital readouts and keep the analog in the dash. Should have been easy to make a quick connect so that you got the digital when needed(yep, electronics guy me is). A matter of taste I guess :) I still cant w...

Re: rFactor MR2 Mk1

whats rfactor? also the mr pic above looks awesome but is the nose a little stubby? A racing simulator, the big commercial version is used by Team India F1 team to do car setup simulation and for track learning. That version is probably a bit too heavy for most private computers. Have just tried rF...

Re: Rear arch repair

If the rot has spread out, alfaparts makes complete rear panels. Got a pair in the basement that i`m (still) planning on fitting and they do look good.

Re: DIY respray of the whole car - crazy or a good idea?

If you are such a perfectionist, do the prepping yourself and leave the pros for the painting. Preparations only need a perfectionist with time on his hands, but painting requires experience and equipment to guarantee a good result. I would like to give it a go myself though, just for the experience...

Re: Did a closer inspection on my car, bad news :(

Have been looking at GT4`s but the prices is horrendous in this country. 1988 GT4 for sale, 100k miles, price tag at 7300gbp, double that for a 1994.... I am actually looking at a VW Caravelle, the long version of it. Would be nice with a car to sleep in when going on climbing trips... Could pull a ...

Re: Did a closer inspection on my car, bad news :(

Cheers, No use throwing it away ^^ I`m sure one of the garages around here could do it, but as a quick check I have found a service manual for a 88' which includes a bunch of chassis dimensions. I guess that I could measure them to have a good clue if it is twisted or not. I dont think i`m able to s...

Re: Did a closer inspection on my car, bad news :(

Hi again, After I had some time to cool down I think i`m gonna try to save it. I just like it too much to scrap it, and seeing that a better one probably wont come up in a while, I might as well try. The checklist so far is, in rough order of priority: - Repair the bent structures under the car, mig...

Re: Did a closer inspection on my car, bad news :(

Cheers Peter, A lovely car it is (apart from all the aforementioned stuff at least). I agree with the chassis legs being hard to correct, probably have to cut them out, fabricate new ones and weld it together, which honestly is way beyond my skills. Not very optimistic about sorting it, but honestly...

Did a closer inspection on my car, bad news :(

Hi guys, In the planning/research stage of getting my car back in top shape, I knew there was rust on it, and got new rear panels to weld in, and have been close to ordering front panels a few days now. Decided to do a more thorough inspection on the car before ordering and discovered that the "...

Oh absolutely, although I feel otherwise after driving 500km to get on a track just to find out that the brakes are good for only 5 laps in a weekend

Happened twice already, NOT going to happen again!

Re: Variable brake feel (again/still)

Sounds like I should just try a good bleeding again then, start with the MC and then do the calipers. If that does not help (and not being too optimistic) I`m stuck. Starting to get that love/hate thingy about these cars, still more love than hate tough 8) I do have a strong dislike for the previous...
