Re: Project MRX350

It`s a stunning car Paul, even without spoiler, skirts and boot lid.
Heck, even the way those wheels fit the rims looks good. Just wish i had the time and skill to do what you are doing.

Cheers

Re: How the hell is this going to come out?

if there is no heat sensitive parts close to it you could try heating it red hot, then while still warm use your mole grips to force it loose. It worked wonders on my Opel Omega exhaust.

Re: Variable brake feel (again/still)

Hi Michael, Thanks for the reply. Ok so some of the trouble might be explained by the lack of heat, thats good to know. I did incidentally check the area around the MC this weekend when bleeding the cooling system, could not find any sign of leaks. I know there was a leak before I refurbished the MC...

Variable brake feel (again/still)

Hi folks, Need some help on getting this brake problem straightened.... Finally the snow have gone from the roads and been able to try out the brakes a little. I feel like i cant trust the brakes, they seem to be very good in one moment and rubbish in the next. I have checked the wheel bearings and ...

Re: MK1 Across the arctic circle this Monday (Time Lapse youtube film)

Thanks. Yes they use metal studs, the studs is really only important on very hard snow and on sheet ice(especially when wet). On tarmac they just gets pushed into the tire so dont contribute much at all other than reducing the effective contact area a bit. On normal snow conditions the most importan...

Re: Project MRX350

This car is going to be fantastic, I think me and Paul got the same taste when it comes to MR2`s. If i just could find a way to get the car road legal in Norway, there would be a RHD AW11 in the woodsport garage for an engine and suspension upgrade immediately. I`m very impressed by this build, woul...

Re: Drop the engine or not, changing cam seals/belt and water pump.

Halfway there, not rushing it has taken me 5.5hours to get the cam seals replaced. Still need to change the water pump and get all the parts together, a fine sunday activity. And yep, surprisingly amount of room once the side panel and engine mount is out.

Re: exhaust wrap

In it would help to keep the exhaust gasses hot if you are running a stock engine with larger exhaust pipes. Higher temperature would lead to higher exhaust velocities which gives more aerodynamic drag in the pipes. On the other hand, too low temperature yields allot of weight that needs to be moved...

Drop the engine or not, changing cam seals/belt and water pump.

Hi. I`m thinking of finally changing the aforementioned parts, and also the distributor o-ring this weekend, but I cant decide on the easiest way of doing it. I do have access to a car lift, so I could probably drop the engine quite easily, on the other hand, dropping the engine is still quite a bit...

Re: MK1 Across the arctic circle this Monday (Time Lapse youtube film)

Cheers guys,

Wanted to get more frames to lower the speed, but I think 20minutes is long enough. Maybe do one in multiple parts when the summer comes, gonna drive the same route then.

MK1 Across the arctic circle this Monday (Time Lapse youtube film)

Hi folks. Drove to my parents for a little holiday last week, on my return i set up the Gopro camera for 1 pic/sec and made a time lapse of the trip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SV_piSx5U0 Considering we had about 3 feet of snow I was rather skeptical about what the driving conditions would turn...

Re: Isolating the fuel source to quarter panel

A common method is filling the relevant volume with water during welding, drain the water and fill with alcohol to absorb the water. Then drain and fill with gasoline... The alcohol should absorb the remaining water and thus be of no problems. You could of course also fill the tank/filler tube with ...

Re: Brakes keeps overheating on track, need some tips quick...

These brakes just dont want to stop bugging me, came home from a trip to the US on saturday, and today the brake warning light came on, low level of brake fluid. Guess we must have pinched the seal when rebuilding it at the trackday. Anyway, ordering new rear callipers tomorrow, thinking about chang...

Re: rear vibration *pic added*

It`s no problem removing the old ones, just do what they say in the manual and make a cut in the metal sleeve, then just tap into it with a screwdriver to get it loose from the chassis mount.

Re: Brakes keeps overheating on track, need some tips quick...

Received new discs yesterday, will save them for a little while since they was bought for the Carbotech pads and I need to figure out how i can do the bedding of the pads, manual suggests getting up to 70mph, and 50mph is the highest available speed limit. Interesting theory scomr2, I`ll see if i ca...

Re: Brakes keeps overheating on track, need some tips quick...

Now the brakes have turned around a bit :P They start out soft and get hard after a couple of stops ^^ I`m a bit puzzled, but heading towards the stuck caliper, even if they all seemed to move smoothly last time I checked. Checked the prize for new ones, close to 10000 NOK(1080 gbp by todays currenc...
