Re: Unusual boost leaks ?
Nope, have confirmed that it isn't by using a camera on it.

Unusual boost leaks ?
I'm looking for peoples experiences of unusual boost leaks. I'm still battling with one on my Rev1 Turbo engine, in that I can drive and boost fine up until 14psi (boost controller set for this) and then all of a sudden there is a quiet pop and boost drops back to around 4psi. I then change gear and...

Discontinued Parts
Would it be useful to have a thread which lists all the parts which are known to be discontinued? I did have a quick search but couldn't find one. I found out this week that the gasket between inlet pipe and the throttle body is discontinued. I suppose maybe somebody somewhere may have some on the s...

Re: help please with problem refitting alternator
Weird.
Are you able to provide a picture looking down from above showing the belt and how it is fitting in the pulley between the alternator and crank ?

Re: help please with problem refitting alternator
Did you check it all rotated freely before you fitted it ?
Also when you look down from above are all the pulleys lined up, i.e. the belt is running true. ?

Re: Turbo - Lack of boost after changing gear.
Check your boost solenoid. Basically, you probably have a very weak spring on the gate. Due to this the solenoid needs to bleed all the pressure to the air in order for the spring to actually hold boost. If the solenoid stuck sometimes, it won't bleed the air and the gate will receive the help of t...

Re: Turbo - Lack of boost after changing gear.
fuel pump on it's way out? hard to test without a gauge. It's a brand new Walbro, and if it was on its way it would be more likely to cause issues at high boost, i.e. maximum fuel pressure. you're sure the dump valve is closing properly after use? Well this was one of my theories, hence why trying ...

Is the AFM 100%?
I guess this is possible but a slim chance, but will take a closer look.
The idle is rock solid.
I did wonder if it was something to do with the TVIS activation, but not sure this would limit boost by quite so much if not working properly.

Re: Turbo - Lack of boost after changing gear.
Well today managed to get a camera on the wastegate rod and it was proven that it is actually closed when expected, and even at the times where not enough boost is being made, which has me a bit flumoxed. Changed the recirc valve for another one, but they both checked out the same and didn't make an...

OK, was going to suggest the hose from hell if you were an earlier rev turbo, but it is different on a Rev3.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Low boost....
There are a few ways of doing it, but I cut the bottom off an old baked bean tin, fitted a Schrader valve and then inserted this into the intake pipe to the turbo and attached to my compressor. Obviously stock turbo pressure is only around 14psi, but if you can pressurise to around 20psi then it can...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Low boost....
First thing I would do is look for a boost leak.
Inspect all pipework and clamps to look for anything loose or popped off. Ideally you want to pressurise the intake as this will make it easier to spot\hear any leaks.

Re: Turbo - Lack of boost after changing gear.
Thanks guys, it was a good shout about the VTV as I wasn't aware of it's importance.
Unfortunately it tests OK (easy to blow one way, not so easy another way) and is plumbed in OK.

Re: Turbo - Lack of boost after changing gear.
Thanks for posting your experience, trying to get a camera on the wastegate is a good idea.
I don't think it will be anything related to the actual actuator as the two different turbo's had their own actuators.
