Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Can't select 1st, 3rd and 5th gear. All the up gears!
I thought that initially but then thought wouldnt that also effect the bottom gears too as one cable takes care of the up and down and the other the left and right. Another thing is that when I got in the car to go home, all gears were selectable again. I was very gentle the whole way home and it ...

Sounds like one of your cables have snapped to me.

Re: Head gasket issue?
Don't forget if you put that crap in your engine it will also travel through the radiator and the heater matrix and ideally those should be swapped as well when you come to do the job properly.

Pretty sure it's the external temperature sensor for the AC

Re: Unusual boost leaks ?
So just to add to this I have performed a compression test and a leakdown test.
1 - 180psi - 20%
2 - 179psi - 30%
3 - 180psi - 30%
4 - 179psi - 30%
So at least I know that my engine is in good health even if the mystery thickens about the boost leak.

I had the same issue on my original CT26 turbo, which had it's own actuator. So in reality two different actuators have been used.

Re: Unusual boost leaks ?
It's unlikely to be the recirc valve as I've replaced this with a known working one. My idle is good, but now you have me wondering if maybe the idle control valve gasket is leaking as that hasn't been subjected to the soapy water test yet  I tried running with the boost controller off, so in ...

Re: Unusual boost leaks ?
OK, so I'm still persisting with this, have reverted back to stock boost control, just in case but exactly the same symptoms, accelerate fine boost builds to around 14psi and then there is a small pop sound and boost drops back to around 4psi. It will not build again until I change gear and stop acc...

Yeah apologies, looks like our wastegate valve is a little different.

The two ports on the actuator are on two different sides of the diaphragm.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Boost controller install - boost too high?
You have it plumbed as per the instructions on page 13? Did you connect the output from the solenoid to the waste gate port pointing towards the front of the car? The one pointing towards the rear of the car needs to be blocked off, but even if it wasn't you'd be getting low boost rather than higher.

Confident it's not my wastegate, see my other thread here: http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic. ... highlight=
I understand, but would really appreciate peoples experiences with strange boost leaks they have come across before, which I may have.

Nope, I had the same issue before fitting a boost controller, and now afterwards.
