Re: Front Suspension Modifications ?

How about moving the spring carrier further up the shock with a little cutting and welding?

I bought a Celica XT years ago which had the Grayston clamp on spring height adjusters fitted and these seemed to work ok!

Re: T-Top vs Tin Top

Tom Selleck in Magnum P.I. wouldn't have been the same in a tin top 308 GTB! :)

Re: T-Top vs Tin Top

Pro's and con's: On a long journey with the roof out I am completely deaf by the time I arrive! The Nur-spec is far quieter with the roof in! The T-Bar get's hotter inside in the summer and the glass can be impossible to remove unless you have asbestos hands! I know someone who rolled their T-bar MR...

Re: My 1998 Motor Show pics!

The FT-86 is quite cool imho after having seen it at Goodwood last year but it's really just a Celica replacement whereas the blue car pictured is more like a Mk4 should be! :D

Re: Parking a Mk1

Having had a race license and completed the IAM test I have to say driving on the road and racing are completely different but the hazard perception and extra awareness probably helps you avoiding a crash. The quarter to three position is great in an MR2 but in a big car with say 4 turns lock to loc...

Re: My 1998 Motor Show pics!

Through a friend we had trade passes to get in before everyone else so went straight to the Toyota stand before the crowds came in. Sad but true when really we should have gone straight to the Ferrari stand! My wife subsequently ordered a Roadster in Cape Green which she still has to this day. One f...

Re: Parking a Mk1

Do they really still teach that??? The IAM test is far better with a bias on driving fast but within the limits and with the emphasis on hazard perception.

Re: Parking a Mk1

+1 I agree about the re-tests. The amount of scary driving I see on the roads particularly by old people is frightening. And extra testing for BMW drivers. I was cut up by a blonde in a 1 series this morning who then completely slowed down and braked in front of me going around the corner! ](*,)

Re: Leaking radiator - replacement needed... Which one?

www.eurocarparts.co.uk do a Valeo radiator for £258 and I believe this may be identical to the Toyota OEM one.

Have you checked it's not just the 'o' rings on the drain tap leaking?

A road going version would be fun - bit like an Exige but better!

I seem to recall that some of them run 3-SGTE's?

Re: MK3 model year changes...

Best option IMO is to have one of each though both the Mk1 and Mk2 are in winter storage to stop them rusting away! I personally find the Mk3 a practical every day car which is great fun to drive but more fuel efficient than its predecessors and I often carry a set of golf clubs in the passenger seat!

Re: Breakdown last night - fuel or cam timing?

SORTED! My in-line fuel pump install-: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4058/5158069878_6a1d1debf8.jpg So it was the dying fuel pump that was the cause of the breakdown after all but the new in-line one I fitted at the weekend works a treat. The noise of the fuel pump might be annoying as this is quit...

Re: Breakdown last night - fuel or cam timing?

Thanks - a great idea. The standard system has a pressure regulator already built in doesn't it? A real myriad of pumps available. Has anyone a recommendation? According to the BGB the fuel pressure is supposed to be between 38-44psi so is the pump pressure I should look for? Maybe: http://cgi.ebay....

Re: Breakdown last night - fuel or cam timing?

Bridged the posts in the diagnostic port again yesterday and I could hear the pump for a few seconds but then nothing. Dismantled the interior and checked for power going to the pump all ok. So I guess it's pump replacement time!

Other than Toyota £££'s, where's the best place to buy one?

Re: Breakdown last night - fuel or cam timing?

Bridged the terminals in the diagnosis port this evening with ignition on but no sound of pump. Disconnected cold start injector and no sight of petrol. Disconnected fuel line to fuel rail and no fuel there either! Strange as fuel definately pumped out the previous time I disconnected it and cranked...

Re: Breakdown last night - fuel or cam timing?

Ok thanks - I'm sure it has green ones unfortunately. I will check electrical feed and resistance this evening if possible. The idea that it starts briefly running on the cold-start injector only is plausible but this only happens once or twice after the car has been left for a while, otherwise it j...
