Induction Air Leak

According to my local garage, my MK1 has a massive air leak in the induction system which is making the enigine run badly and proving difficult to tune, as a result of which it only just passed the MOT. Where could the leak be?

Towing

Well I've already bought a towbar the same as the one now for sale on ebay although I didn't have to drive to Swansea to get it at least. Looking in the boot floor of my car, amazingly Toyota appear to have thoughtfully put a hole in to run the electric cable through. My manual says simply to allow ...

Turbo oil change

As my MK2 Turbo is on its umpteenth owner and coming up for 90k miles, I have no way of knowing what oils have been used in the engine before, or at what frequency oil changes have been made. It's unlikely that Toyota used fully synthetic from new so surely a semi-synthetic should be better on a hig...

Towing

I fiitted my MK1 a few years ago with a towbar and used it and a trailer to move house. The clutch strained a little to say the least when I loaded up my old MG in the trailer! I've seen other MR2's over the years with towbars fitted but never seen them towing anything. Has anyone any experience of ...

100 RON fuel

As my car runs ok on 95 ron and doesn't pink or anything, is it worth saving 6p per litre, so at say 5 miles per litre and 6000 miles per year, equivalent to 1200 litres per year, that's a cost saving of £72 per year, which is nice unless you need a new engine at the end of it! Maybe I'll stick to O...

100 RON fuel

5-star was leaded of course and most british sportscars were designed to run on it. So why can you but 100 ron in Europe & Japan but not in Britain?

100 RON Fuel

I received 5 gallons of 100 ron petrol for Christmas from Sanata Shell. Did anyone else? Shall I use this straightaway or save it for track day use? My Rev 3 Turbo runs ok on ordinary 95 ron but is much quicker on Optimax. Turbo's are designed to run on 100 ron aren't they? Why is is that they have ...
