Re: Can I use a dastek boost module with a EBC
On a rev 3 with a EBC, u don't really need the unichip boost control module, the rev 3 map sensor reads high enough for most tuning needs. Do you really want to map past fuel cut point? Kidde, I had exactly the same q as you, and dino explained it all and advised, use ebc to control boost as the uni...

Re: Where to T for a boost gauge....Rev 3 (more info required)
Have a look on the long side of the intake plenum, next to the boot firewall.
There's a plugged pipe there (facing downwards) that's perfect for a boost gauge.
'tis what i've used, saves t ing in anywhere.

Re: detonation cans?
Agree, a essential piece of tuners hardware. I think they consist of a mic that clamps to the engine, audio amp, and headphones that the tuner wears. cans=slang for headphones. My first test run before my Unichip was even plugged in, was carefully monitored with det cans and a wideband lambda sensor...

What a green diesel pump handle/pipe, Ba$ta*ds   !!! I had something similar but the other way around, was driving a diesel astra, pulled up at a independent garage somewhere in essex, at the black pipe/handled pump and put in 4 star LRP!!! Everyone knows that unleaded is green, diesel i...

Re: 3SGE BGB..
Trying to find a 3sge BGB to find vacuum diagrams for the emission controls. Any help? Don't know where you've been looking but the're only available seconhand on ebay etc, or new from Mr T's part desk when asking for RM164E for rev 1/2 or RM396E for rev 3. By the way it's BBB, Big Blue Book, the B...

Re: Davies Craig pump - help please ! :-(
The pump: http://www.daviescraig.com.au/documents/EBP/EBP%20Brochure.pdf Seems to be able to run from 9 - 15 V, and only draws a amp or so so the battery would have to be really shagged to be causing a prob. I've never had mine cut out and it's at the bottom of the rad, it IS easy to get unprimed th...

Re: Error Code 31 on a REV 3 Turbo
If the ecu has a internal fault on that input line, shorted to ground for example this could cause the virtually no volts out of the map sensor that you are seeing, if you can break the line and measure towards the sensor, if you see the correct voltage, then this is what is happening, if there is s...

Re: Error Code 31 on a REV 3 Turbo
Great Tim, youre on the right path, ok so it could be the sensor output, or something loading or grounding it's output. Can you break the blue black and measure MAP side, this will prove if it's the sensor or the wiring/ecu. If you dont see 2.2-2.8 volts on the sensor output at ambient prerssure (pu...

Re: [Mk2 Turbo] Full boost but no power
unplug MAP sensor - gross overfuelling and big flames. Really?! In my experience, pulling the map sensor on a rev3 engine causes it to stall. Are you doing anything else to keep it running? Rogue Yep it does stall, and yes I'm keep the revs up by manually operating the throttle, and with a really h...

Re: Error Code 31 on a REV 3 Turbo
Agree, Perhaps the 5 Volt reg in the ecu is faulty, and your MAP sensor does have 10.9 volts supply, and this is making the standard output higher, 4.2 volts is equiv to the fuelling at 17psi, over about 4.5 and the car would be in fuel cut even with no boost !, would explain the hard to idle :( Andy

Re: Error Code 31 on a REV 3 Turbo
No, If you unplug the sensor, ie 0 volts from the sensor, the ecu assumes a backup setting which is 100% fuelling or near to it. It runs exactly as you describe it, ie pull the map off a idleing car and it will stall, not due to underfuelling but overfuelling. so 0 volts isn't no fuel, it's near max...

Re: Error Code 31 on a REV 3 Turbo
Hi Tim, On a Rev 3 Unplug the MAP sensor plug, turn ignition on, but do not start car. the 3 pin plug, brown is signal earth, should be 4.5-5.5 Volts between that and the red/blue wire that is the +5v supply to the sensor. the brown to earth I don't think is zero ohms to the chassis, I'll have to ch...

Re: [Mk2 Turbo] Full boost but no power
Right next to the Diagnostic plug, pipe from it, to the throttle plenum, 3 pin plug on it, gnd, +5 Volts, and output.
Might be difficult measuring it's output when connected, best place will be plug into ecu, mine measured 2.2 ish volts with ig on but engine off, yesterday,

Re: MK2 Turbo- Installing an intake temp sensor/guage?
I used Rory's gauges (2 of) to measure my pre and post intercooler air temps before my cc install, worked well, although they top out at 70 deg C, and this happens when on boost a lot on the pre cooler. I just slipped the thermistors under the rubber sock of the turbo outlet and throttle body input....

Re: Spitting Flames!! - thinking of selling it
Top tip
If you use a 10mm bike plug,
a, youre more likely to have that sized drill bit.
b, you can easily fill a 1cm hole with a short stainless bolt when you want to remove it
I know what u mean though Rory, mine was <2 weeks old when drilled.

Re: Spitting Flames!! - thinking of selling it
Bit yeah, that's why I 'm not an affiliate and don't sell them on here, the mr2 wasn't the target market as they flame enough already, but my kits just help them flame more, more often. I don't think people don't automatically think 'boy racer' when a high powered car pops a flame. Every external mo...

Re: lubrication
Hmm, good short time advice there but then it could get worse. Locks shouldn't really be lubricated with oil, (although loads of people do it),it will free it up but ATTRACTS dirt and crap. There's proper lock lubricant out there that doesn't attract dirt, stuff we use at work is made by Kaba and is...

Re: Spitting Flames!! - thinking of selling it
Agree, I've found the same, It seems pretty random, often alternate, but the nearside does flame a bit better, It must be to do with how the center pipe joins the rear section, from more to the right?!? It's very hard to get them both at the same time, but looks cool :D Here's a vid(3meg): http://me...
