Re: MK2s finally benefiting from the upturn of modern classic prices?

Prices are on the rise, seen the better spec or lower mile turbos climbing over the 6k+ mark. These seem like fair prices for quality cars, not the rusty mistreated examples. The NA is all over the place, seen them from anything from 500 quid to 8k. For a good example with OK miles and no rust they...

MK2s finally benefiting from the upturn of modern classic prices?

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds?Category=used-cars&Keyword=turbo&KeywordCleanedValue=turbo&M=580 Glad to see that values of MK2 turbos are finally starting to follow their better known Japanese cousins... MK2 NA prices have been hardening a lot in the past 18 months too. These car...

REV5 Turbo for sale on eBay

Spotted this lovely thing for sale this morning. Looks and sounds very good. Can't be more than a handful of REV5 Turbos knocking around in the UK I wouldnt have thought. If I was still in the market for a turbo I would be biting this guys arm off. Just thought I would flag it up in case anyone else...

Re: Immaculate REV3 Turbo - and so my watch begins...

So anyway, back to where I was up to, the Sunday before last we had a beautiful sunny day, so I waited for early evening before heading out to give the car a proper test drive over some of my favourite roads. This was my first opportunity to drive it properly with the new suspension and exhaust fitt...

Re: Immaculate REV3 Turbo - and so my watch begins...

I had a look on Japspeed's website and the outgoing system looks identical to the one shown on their website. Regardless, the outgoing exhaust was either made by a company whose name is dragged through the mud on forums on the internet for poor quality and who went bankrupt, or by a cheap exhaust ma...

Re: Immaculate REV3 Turbo - and so my watch begins...

Thanks for your interest guys. Jim - the exhaust that was on the car a while back was a Blueflame, but I've got a funny feeling that I recall Dan saying that he replaced it with a Japspeed. Regardless he did say the drone was annoying him too and if he'd kept the car he would have changed it anyway,...

Re: Immaculate REV3 Turbo - and so my watch begins...

I had also done a few other minor jobs on the car too, namely the removal of two of the three stickers on the back window, just leaving the 30th anniverary one. http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/aa359/James-Junior/Stickerless%20window_zpsgsc3qpt2.jpg I also removed the TEIN sticker from above the ...

Re: Immaculate REV3 Turbo - and so my watch begins...

One thing I did notice about the exhaust when I detailed the car was that the adjustor clips for the tips are a bit noticeable if you are down low. I asked for these to be included in the system so I could change the tailpipes if I wanted, but soon decided I was very happy with what I had chosen, ma...

Re: Immaculate REV3 Turbo - and so my watch begins...

First impressions were promising on the drive back from Sheffield. The boominess was gone and the exhaust was doing exactly what I wanted. Quiet when driven with a light foot, but with a nice snarl to it with a few revs on the dial. Also there was an added bonus; the turbo response changed. With the...

Re: Immaculate REV3 Turbo - and so my watch begins...

So, after camping out in Cobra's (pretty plush) customer waiting room with my laptop for five hours, they called me through to show me the finished article! These were the tips I chose - 4.5" double rolled with a diagonal slash. Was hoping they wouldn't look too lairy as I like all my modificat...

Re: Immaculate REV3 Turbo - and so my watch begins...

So with the suspension improved, it was time to address the exhaust situation. I think the outgoing system was a Japspeed. It was okay at full chat when pressing on, but was very boomy and made your ears ring at certain points in the rev range, with a particular talent for droning badly when sat cru...

Re: Immaculate REV3 Turbo - and so my watch begins...

Right, thats me out for this evening before I go cross eyed. I have some more pics and mods to list which I will put up later this week and then plenty more in the pipeline. I hope my ramblings are at least of interest to some. If not at least there are plenty of pretty pictures for you to skim thro...

Re: Immaculate REV3 Turbo - and so my watch begins...

With the new set up on the car and starting to settle, it was time to test it. Whilst you wouldn't tell from the pics above, we had actually raised the ride height by 10mm all round. The pillow ball top mounts were replaced with OEM rubber ones, hopefully to get rid of a bit of the harshness of the ...

Re: Immaculate REV3 Turbo - and so my watch begins...

Then the day finally came! It was time to go to Demon Tweeks for the suspension refresh. I arrived early in the morning and camped out in their waiting room for 9 hours with my laptop, as it took them all day to take off the old coilovers and top mounts, fit and calibrate the new ones, then set the ...

Re: Immaculate REV3 Turbo - and so my watch begins...

So anyway, back to the MR2... Whilst I was off hurtling down mountains and getting baked in Amsterdam it had a bit of a rest, whilst the suspension parts continued to gather dust at Demon Tweeks. I managed a quick drive out one evening to see my friend Gav who breaks MR2s and has a lovely REV1 turbo...

I won't bore you with the details of the Welsh and Euro tours as we're mostly here to talk about MR2s (I'll get back to that!), but basically think amazing roads, incredible cars, cameraderie and a lot of hard driving! Here are a couple of my favourite pictures from Wales: http://i1193.photobucket.c...

Re: Immaculate REV3 Turbo - and so my watch begins...

Also in and amongst all these shennigans, I was invited to an extended test drive of the new Alfa 4C Spider, as I do some work for my local Alfa dealership and was originally on the waiting list for a 4C coupe. The invite included a plus one, so I invited my mate Lee to come along, being the biggest...

Re: Immaculate REV3 Turbo - and so my watch begins...

However, with the parts ordered I then hit a busy spell with work and pleasure, squeezing in some professional driving tuition in the Nissan, a long (messy) weekend in Amsterdam, a weekend at Silverstone for Japfest (where Cobra exhausts borrowed the Z as a demo car) a weekend away driving in Wales ...

Re: Immaculate REV3 Turbo - and so my watch begins...

I was excited at the prospect of having a new and very challenging car to master. However, my run over the Peaks and some subsequent pottering around revealed some issues that needed attention, the first of which was the suspension. The car had largely been a show car whilst in Dan's possession, hav...
