Re: The search continues
It simply wouldn't allow you to select the gear sometimes, unless you double clutched it. Interesting what you say about it potentially being linked to a new gearbox. The owner did say he had a receipt showing the car had been fitted with a replacement gearbox. He did say it drove fine. I didn't tes...

Viewed a REV3 turbo in Handforth Dean today - a nice blue colour with some tasteful mods. Paintwork was a bit tatty up close though and when I sat in it and worked up and down the gearbox it was refusing 2nd and 3rd at times, so didn't bother taking it for a drive. I have read about a few cars havin...

Hi David,
Please could you post some close up pics of the areas affected by rust?

Re: My Rev4 2GR-FE V6 Mk2 For Sale
What a beautiful car. Love the subtle exterior - lovely wheels and a good drop without any OTT styling. Less really is more. The interior meanwhile is beautifully understated; a refreshing change from the wacky colours and spaceship style steering wheels you see on some. Stunning work my friend. :th...

Re: Insurance for Turbo Conversion Car
Sky Insurance for me - highly recommended. No problems covering my remapped Spider and when I bought the 156 V6, they allowed me to 'mirror' my existing no claims bonus on the second car, which as a result only cost me £440 to insure. I am 29, live in a bad postcode for insurance and have 6 years NCB.

Re: Suspension Damper Advice
Good luck! Any suspension change is a bit nerve wracking as you just have to suck it and see and the parts and labour (or time cost if you can swing a spanner) are not cheap. Bilis and Eibachs seems a common combo though, so must be for good reason. Look forward to hearing your results buddy. :thuml...

Re: REV4 Turbo at Jap Merry Hill Garage
Thanks mate but will give it a miss based on the feedback from you guys and my intuition. I have the reddies to hand for the right car, but with the Spider as a daily driver and having just acquired a cracking 156 V6 to use for the Screwball Rally, I already have enough boys toys to keep me occupied...

Re: Suspension Damper Advice
Watching this thread with interest as I was only wondering today what the optimum set up for comfortable daily driving/ fast road use is considered to be for MK2s. Re your Eibachs, I fitted these to my Alfa Spider with standard suspension and they sharpened up the handling no end, without compromisi...

Re: REV4 Turbo at Jap Merry Hill Garage
For me the only kit that actually improves the iconic styling of the MR2 is the TOMS kit. Even then I only like the TOMS skirts and rear bumper. For its got to be that or standard. All subjective though of course. Each to their own and all that. :) I prefer the greddy side skirts for a more std/oem...

Re: REV4 Turbo at Jap Merry Hill Garage
Yup it is the red one. Hmmm it looked pretty good from the Ebay ad. It is now up for £3,500. Trader did reference the wheels (you cannot tell from the photos), but said he would put a matching set on included in the price. If it has been for sale for that long it must be a pig. Never good for a car ...

REV4 Turbo at Jap Merry Hill Garage
I noticed this on Ebay and enquired. Mileage is very low at 104 kms / 67k miles. I asked what they had done to validate the mileage but apparantly they haven't, though he suggested their might be some Japanese service history in the glovebox. I asked about the auction grade and it was reportedly a 3...

Re: Lacquer Peel
If you love the car and want to keep it, you could consider getting it vinyl wrapped instead.
Would be about half the cost of a full respray. I was given a rough guide of about £1,000 the other day.

I want to get back into the fold!
Hi guys - its been a while. Some years ago after owning two NAs and two turbos, I sold my last MR2 as I needed to buy a car more presentable for business purposes as my career was moving on. Yet even after quite a few years time, I have never got the rush of turbo ownership out of my system, or MR2s...

Mk3 pre facelift - about to buy, opinions on price and spec please
Hi guys and girls, Sal and I have been on the lookout for a MK3 for £3k or less and have found one we quite like. The car is a 2000 roadster in silver with red leather with a subtle bodykit (looks OEM). Hood is in good condition, bodywork is clean barring the odd scuff or scrape here or there and it...

Will 16" Celica T Sport wheels fit a mk3 MR2?
Went to look at an MR2 for Sal this evening and think we might buy it. Car has a subtle body kit but still has standard wheels on which the lacquer is peeling a bit. Ekona recommended fitting 16s as opposed to 17s as lowering the car should then cause no issues with tyre scrub. I have spotted a set ...

What lowering springs to use with 17" wheels
Hello ladies and gents, After a long time away, I will be soon back in the IMOC fold as my lovely lady has made the wise choice (with no small amount of encouragement) to swap her MK1 MX5 for a MK3 MR2. \:D/ We are looking at one tomorrow that has the full Toyota factory fit kit. The car is a pre 20...
