All resolved - the plastic housing around the filler cap had worn out and stopped forming a seal even after Peter fitted a new filler cap. Replaced that and all good. :)

Car overheats under any load (3k+ revs with light or more boost) within a relatively short time. Have refilled and bled (radiator and heater core) but I'm getting the same symptoms. Bought mine at 100k+ with no history. Massive gamble and I've had the usual fail through wear and tear but no surprises otherwise - generally the car is in good condition, and anything I couldn't fix Peter was more than happy to sort. :)

MR2 Boot / Engine Bay grommets

Does anyone know the dimension of the two small grommets at the bottom corners of the boot / engine bay? One grommet has perished around where a previous owner had run a wire for a toad alarm, meaning the boot now becomes a paddling pool when it rains heavily... Failing that if anyone knows the part...

I use rust remover after sanding back to bare metal to deal with any remaining oxidisation. which cost about £5 from Screw Fix. Anything with Phosphoric acid in is good. If chaps want to make their car a smidge heavier, ricier and more like a slightly more like a submarine or something that you might find in a Mcdonalds car park at absolutely no benefit to performance then I say hey, go for it. :thumleft:

Did this with mine super street - and realised in the process I had a leak.

Standard Toyotas (I used Delphi) work fine for rear.

Mazda Premacy for front.

Cheers. I've given up and am going down the route of stock rebuildables with apex lowering springs as an affordable compromise. Will get the Teins off and sell as a job lot. :)

Tein rebuilds seem steep.

The initial rebuild price was reasonable, but the big hit was on the shipping of parts to and from Japan.

Suffice to say I am looking into alternatives...If anyone has any ideas I'd be grateful :s

I agree on the sills. Peter advised me to get into the car, remove the back quarter interior trim on each side, whip out the foam filling each sill and spray some waxoyl or similiar in there. Is a 30 min job and gives you peace of mind.
