Re: Wiper switch repair help?
Are you sure the stateside item is the same as the UK one. The photos show Hi, Lo, Int, Mist, Off settings. Pretty sure no mist setting on UK models:)

What a fantastic machine; such a great combination of retro OEM touches, applied to subtle yet heroic custom craziness!
Could well be worth going to JAE to take a closer look

Re: How much would you value this car at?
http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?p=1505108#1505108 Thats my FS thread, I have yet to put a price and i'm really struggling to value this car. I don't want to give it away and I don't want to rip anyone off, I want to sell for whats its worth. Im tempted to say £2,500 for example but is th...

Re: 3GSE into AW11
Yep you could look at it that way, it's a lot of work to discover i was right though :D , it really won't be any faster than a stock 4a-ge. Very true - but said friend is a little bit like you Paul, in the sense he likes the challenge of doing something; so its not an exercise to go mega quick just...

Re: 3GSE into AW11
Totally agree a 3S-GTE would be worth the effort, however he has a a redundant mk2 with later spec engine (160 bhp?), and a mk1 that keeps popping its head! Should still be worth the energy overall car has been restored bodywork wise so is now rot free (insofar as a mk1 can be!)

3GSE into AW11
Does anyone have any info on swapping the 4AGE for the 3GSE out of a 1993 SW20. Primarily interested in wiring diagrams; its a friends project and he intends to run the standard ECU out of the mk11.
Any help appreciated, many thanks Huw

Re: Mk3 pre facelift - about to buy, opinions on price and spec please
Hi presently for £3k you may get a post facelift model. You hear so many pre-facelift owners, having engine rebuilds, that unless you are 100% sure about its condition, maybe the improved design from late 2002 onwards is a economically safer bet long term.

Re: Matte paint
Quite a few have been refinished in Matt (normally black).
I guess it is all personal taste; seems to be a younger generation who tend to go for this kind of look.
One thing it makes sense to point out is the difficulty in selling any matt painted car afterwards.

Re: suspension swap - kyb or koni ??
Chris that MK1 ran stock springs; in fact everything was stock aside from KYB's and 15" alloys with 195/50's. It was a MK1a, and casting my mind back, it had done almost 100k at the time I changed over to new springs with the KYB's (at the time they tempted me as they were considerably cheaper ...

Not with the right springs.
KYBs are great on the road with stock springs or Whitelines.
These things are all such personal taste - I too felt KYB's were too hard for everyday driving conditions!

Re: How to advice - change front & rear brake pads
It's an absolute piece of cake, and if you're just changing pads it is staggeringly obvious which bolts to remove. Don't forget to replace the anti-squeal shims and with a healthy dose of copper grease too :) Stock pads are just about the best you'll get your hands on and unless you're running 200+...

Re: I am betraying my mark 1 and am moving over to the darkside! woooo
I'm also currently tempted by a mk3. Had a sit in Toni's racer not long ago and the mk3 is calling. The idea of working on a car with no rust appeals. I think that is a really good call. It was the main reason for choosing mine; wind in the hair motoring, the other reason, rendering it possible to ...

I'm pleased to say that RoC has pretty much eradicated the "use the search" attitudes. You'll quickly get answers to questions and there's a lot of experience over there you can take advantage of. I'm biased of course, but we all find where we fit in with the social aspect where it suits ...

Re: Possibly buying a MK 3
Hi Pete - I had the same dilemma when buying mine. The 2003 model I bought, is approaching 60k, and has zero oil usage.
Maybe it would be worth buying a 2003 onwards vehicle, and enjoy the model changes, from the early model, that typically render the pre-cat's as less of an issue.
