yep its DLI but it might be MAP not AFM, is there a 7 way plug near the intake manifold? if so then its an AFM. Mine is AFM but your intake pipe looks different to mine so it might be MAP Also take the PS pump and the aircon compressor off, cut the bracket in half and make up an alternator sliding t...
You'd probbaly have better luck with that question on mr2oc.com
You can find the BGB for the 'charger on opc.mr2oc.com
There is a way to adjust the airgap but i'm not sure how to do it. Mine does exactly the same - chirp when engaging.
Service and diagnose it first. Like everyone said the 4age is a pretty responsive engine. Sounds like something needs fixing first.
otherwise:
Supercharge it!
did all 3 in situ, its the only way to do it.
Lay up the film on the outside first and cut to shape/shrink, then peel off the backing and fix on the inside. Check youtube for tips.
Right, sorry for the delay I got carried away and bought another car.... Here are the finished photos with the refinished alloys: http://lh3.ggpht.com/_9ZYDoLOeMEg/Snc9hwBU-GI/AAAAAAAAAEY/6-jPg8g_ZSo/s640/28072009817.jpg http://lh3.ggpht.com/_9ZYDoLOeMEg/Snc9iTqOeYI/AAAAAAAAAEk/VuZiUuI8QpU/s640/3007...
Good table here: http://www.club4ag.com/technical_main.htm The AFM/DLI (coilpacks) was the early AE92 engine. AFM and Dizzy was early AW11. The later engines have MAP sensor and no AFM, they also have higher compression as mentioned earlier. I think they also have DLI but someone will have to clarif...
Nice use of the Subaru cooler! I fitted a slightly smaller battery underneath mine rotated through 90 degrees. There is about 10mm clearance between the battery and the chargecooler and the chargecooler and the engine lid. The air filter can be located in the engine bay since it doesnt make a huge d...
The US guys seem to think the C52 is good for that sort of power. Here are some chargecooler setup pics of my car using AE92 GZE: http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/2412/31012009394mw5.jpg Pre-rad: http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/1962/29072008045.jpg another similar chargecooler setup for an AW11...
Yep that sounds about right, the rears are a bit too soft but the front are OK. Mine is a MK1b. The KYB numbers for the rear shocks on mk1b are different between US and EU (GR-2 vs EXCEL-G). I'm wondering if the US KYB's are too soft on the rear.... GR-2 MK1b rear: 365061 EXCEL-G MK1b rear: 365086 I...
This is the exact conversion I did, AE92 GZE with MAF (AFM). I also had an E series box (E51 or E58) but without LSD. I looked at converting the box to RWD configuration (changing the shifter orientation). But decided it was too complicatd on the E-series as the shifter shaft is different to the C-s...
Just a thought here... ( oh no another suspension thread starting) My Mk1 always handled better with a bit of weight in the front end, (like collecting 50kg of coal). I discussed this with an old racing mate who suggested softer springs on the front to create the same effect. So if I kept my ...
APS in Brackley for alignment.
They used proper Beissbath kit which uses the wheel rims as datums (rotationally equalised to cancel out warped rims) not the tyres like the cheaper stuff.
Got to make sure everything is freed off though first.
Blimey,
Wouldn't have believed it before but maybe that is my problem!
I wish I had known that before refitting it all and forking out £90 on laser alignment.
Bought my repair panels new but secondhand on ebay for £100. Cut off the old ones and welded these on myself (plug welded on the arch). When they are finished, filled and painted you need to paint the inside of the arch where the joint is. I used zinc based paint and soaked the joint. That's how you...
