I have a manual choke and it has payed for itself many times over. On start up the car idles at around 1500rpm and as soon as I set off I can turn the choke off. The fuel savings if you do lots of short journeys are quite large. Also it is not so embarrasing when you do stop at lights or junctions

The 4AGE engine is non-interferance so even if your cam belt breaks it will not damage the engine. However it is worth having it done for peace of mind, even though it won't be damaged it wont run. Paul Woods is the best value I have found HTH
