Re: Mk1 Alloys Query

Cars with the exact same PCD, Offset and Bore as the MKI are: Toyota: Corolla, MKI MR2, Paseo, Starlet, Yaris Mazda: 121>95, 323, Demio, MX3, MX5 Suzuki: Baleno Daihatsu: Sirion I used to have a Corolla GTi (AE92 with the late spec 130bhp 4A-GE engine) and really wanted to upgrade the alloys from th...

Re: MK1a - Oil spotted where it shouldn't be

I tracked it down to loose cam covers! When they're loose, oil can leak past at high RPMS and get eveywhere .. I could understand that, but inside the stock airbox and on the throttlebody side of the filter and in the air intake pipe? Engine is clean in comparison to a lot of MKI's (and MKII's) I'v...

Re: Advice needed on Induction Kit (now where to buy it ?)

I gained about 5bhp after fitting a K&N to my N/A Rev3 - proven with before and after rolling road sessions (allbeit 5 months apart).

You will also notice your fuel bill increase after fitting an induction kit - just listening to the kit growl 8)

Well worth fitting one to an N/A :thumleft:

Re: MK1a - Oil spotted where it shouldn't be

No blue smoke at all... There is only the white type of "smoke" when the engine is cold - which is normal for this type of weather. Once the engine is warm no smoke at all :| I think I'll wait to find out my mechanics verdict once it's gone in for a service and update this thread... In the...

Re: mr2 mk1 insurance

£298.00 F/C from Tescos. £263.00 F/C from Elephant. I do have the advantage of my age (33), full NCB (6years) and 15 years driving with no points. I'll probably start looking into classic insurance soon though. A lot of it also has to do with the type of work you do and the area you stay in. My prem...

MK1a - Oil spotted where it shouldn't be

Last week shortly after getting my MKI and just before sending it for an MOT, I removed the air filter to check how clean (or dirty) it might have been and saw oil on the intake pipe side of the filter  Car was due a service with cambelt change at the same time, so I wiped clean the filter an...

Re: Power Steering - Lighter on Rev2 or 3??

When I had my Rev3 and my girlfriend had her Rev2 and running comparisons, I found that the Rev2 all round felt a lot lighter. At the time, I wouldn't have put it down to the P/S alone though as my Rev3 had all the side impact bars, ABS and stuff (but moon roof), but the Rev2 had T-Bar and aircon. I...

Re: mr2 double din

The double dine head unit is a direct fit. You will need to remove the centre console facia to gain access to the bracket that holds the double din head unit/single din head unit & blanking plate. Remove the brackets and then the blanking panel from the brackets. Attatch the brackets to a double...

Santa Pod RWYB - 20/3/05

Hi guys (and girls) 8) As an events co-ordinator for T.O.C, I thought I'd extend the invite to the MR2 world as well. We are having a Central Area Regional Meet at Santa Pod on the 20th of March. We will be aiming to get to Santa Pod for 9am. It is a RWYB (Run What Ya Brung - track open to public) d...

Was good meeting up with some old and new faces. Didn't manage to speak to everyone though  Hopefully my MKI will be available to get to the next one  Here are a few low-res shots I took: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v240/System-G/Meets/dc004d3f.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums...

Re: mk1 front spoiler

When I was restoring my Corolla GTi, I found a place that made entire wings. I have lost his details and am also not sure if they would do wings for a MKI anymore. IIRC, the wings for the Corolla cost in the region of £45 each - so quite realistic. Will need to boot up and traul through my old PC......

Are the whole things available (as a panel)? I will be needing to replace mine some time in the not so distant future (as well as the front wings)... Is there a source for replacement panel and wings? Bits I will need to replace: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v240/System-G/MKI/bcafaf3c.jpg http:...

Re: MKI Idling Strangeness

Right coolant system now topped up and bled through. Definately no air now - a fair bit did come out the system. It's still been idling fine every day since monday now - so it could have just been that some air got caught up somewhere the engine didn't like after it was towed (on a tow-truck) back t...

Re: MKI Idling Strangeness

I haven't had time to bleed the system yet. Work kinda pays the bills and supplies a little extra the MKI needs so have rather busy with those commitments :( Hopefully will have time this weekend to give it a flush, refill & bleed. Will update. All the tubes I need for bleeding the system are on...
