Re: Replacing brake pads DIY

My Rev3 had ABS and just removing the filler cap was fine - it didn't cause any problems with the ABS at all. I wouldn't expect any crud to be in the braking system at all. If you do find debris in there, I would sugest a complete drain and refill of the entire system quick sharp - wouldn't be nice ...

Re: Replacing brake pads DIY

If you are just going to leave the brake fluid filler cap open, It might be an idea to wrap an old cloth around the resevoir as I have had fluid bubble out over the top once before. I forgot the rag and found it a pain to clean the engine bay (This was on my Corolla GTi) #-o I also did a "How-T...

Re: Toyo Tyres?

I found them to be excellent on my girlfirends MKII. I had Eagle F1's fitted to my Rev3. mytyres.co.uk is where we got the Toyos from @ £70.00 each including delivery which took two days to our front door. That was last year for the T1-S. Not sure what the T1-R's go for... There are low tread indica...

Re: got the scooby bug!

My old house mate bought one and I wasn't impressed with it at all. The interior rattled like a childs toy and there were a few other minor problems with the engine (easily sorted but enough to give you a headache). It put me right off scooby's. Then last year my g/f (back then she had a Rev2), said...

Re: MKI - Bad news Cylinder Problems

Saw my mechanic again today to get estimates for the choices I have. For him to swap engines over is going to cost me around the £300 mark - which I didn't think is that bad. For him to do the rings is going to cost "a whole lot more"... Unfortunately it's going to be a long while before I...

Look in the affiliates section and give brakesint a call.

IIRC a set of new (Ferodo) discs for the front of my Rev3 were £70 odd quid delivered to my door next day. This was a couple of years ago.

Re: MKI - Bad news Cylinder Problems

I did the lift-off test in 2nd again today. Got onto a dual carriage way (A43 towards Silverstone). 2nd gear off roundabout to 6 - 6.5k. Lifted off the accellerator car began slowing rather rapidly (as it normally would) to a point where traffic was catching up and I thought best to change to 3rd an...

Lauren, I will do another run in the morning (after rush-hour) and check for smoke. Megatron, I will also look into the leak tomorrow... I will also check with my Mechanic on removing the head and checking the valves and rings etc... and then fitting a new gasket and find out what he'd charge. and f...

Re: MKI - Bad news Cylinder Problems

The white deposits (matron) are powdery and looks like it's coming from the block rather than any of the hoses. Often shortly after starting the engine (whilst it's ilding) you can see steam coming from the area... But once the engines been run under load for a while you don't see any steam. Also ch...

I've got a complete engine, box, loom ecu etc.. here that I want rid of. £75 and you can have it, if thats any help. It's dirty, but it seemed to run ok (94k on it, I think) (we pretty much ripped it out to put in the turbo motor straight after getting the car just before chrimbo). It looks like yo...

MKI - Bad news Cylinder Problems

Hi Peoples Help needed [-o< Last week my MKI got a major service including cambelt change, all filters, oils, plugs etc... My mechanic ran out of time and space and I wanted the car for Sunday. All that was left to do was to do a CO/Emissions test and make necessary adjustments if needed. This happe...

Re: falken 451

I had them on my Rev3 a couple of years ago and they scared the crap out of me in the wet. I replaced them with Eagle F1's as soon as - even though I probably had close to a year worth of tread left on them. My girlfriends Rev2 had Falken 451's as well and the car was even more tail happy than my Re...
