Re: testing lambda sensor

I think following the flowchart I should be disconnecting the pcv hose and checking voltage again. I'm going to test the plug end see if there is any resistance, just find it weird it didn't throw any codes when I disconnected the o2 sensor plug

Re: testing lambda sensor

Right tested it again with e1 + t1 connected and the meter on vf1 + e1 and got 5volts Tried disconnecting the lambda and it hasn't thrown any codes and it still gave me 5 volts. Why wouldn't it throw any codes? I still don't get any rev fluctuations at 2500rpm, I'm getting 5v at tick over and 0.04 w...

testing lambda sensor

Found this but I'm unsure if I'm doing it right because I get nothing when following the test, I've got a digital test meter too instead of a analogue one. Also it says to bridge e1 and te1, whilst the meter is connected(i think) to vf1 and e1 ( I get 0.04volts between vf1 and e1) I'm either doing i...

Re: external wastegate question

Any positive pressure and it cuts again until the car is turned off n on again, so no power really

Re: external wastegate question

so just leave the 4 branch exposed? i want to run a bar of boost, silly question i know but do i use a 1bar spring in the EWG or less like 0.9? Yes, do not wrap the manifold or down pipe. I would use a 8 or 10 psi spring and a boost controler to set the boost you want to run am i better to make up ...

Re: really poor fuel consumption

right so ive changed the fpr and set the fuel pressure to stock, and it runs sweet now, idling at 900-1000rpm when warm and fuel consumption is better, but ive been told i need a 1:1 fpr, so when i get this, it should be better again. ive still to set the timing to 8btdc

Re: apexi safc and fsi fuel regulator setting up

I said earlier I'd be taking it to a rolling road to get set up. I was just setting my fuel pressure to stock. Because I changed what I found to be a faulty fuel pressure regulator for one my mate had laying about. I now realise that I now need a 1:1 fpr! Do I not need a wideband If I'm getting a t...

Re: apexi safc and fsi fuel regulator setting up

Sorry the convo side tracked to tuning it by yourself I thought. As I said, the dyno will/should have a wideband. So no you don't need one if you are planning on taking it to a pro. But as said above from 2mad, it is nice to have one anyway. You could install one at a late date. (remember it is jus...

Re: apexi safc and fsi fuel regulator setting up

So what can I actually do with the safc then, I thought the whole point in it was to control afr's I get that I can, but I wasn't aware that I needed additional parts, in all I could have almost got myself a 2nd hand standalone cost wise

Re: apexi safc and fsi fuel regulator setting up

no a wideband is simply a gauge to measure air fuel ratios. it is not a "controller". you use it in conjunction with the standard o2 sensor. a wideband would and should be fitted a couple of foot away from the exit of the turbo. bungs are usually provided on most if not all downpipes to f...

Re: apexi safc and fsi fuel regulator setting up

Just replace the current o2 sensor with a wideband one? I take it there's other stuff involved.

Re: apexi safc and fsi fuel regulator setting up

I intend on getting it all set up on a rolling road once I've got it together, I'm changing the manifold as the current one cracked (I've welded the crack just now) and I'm adding an external wastegate as I've got boost creep just now. So I'd be best with a wideband o2 controller, what is a det cans...

Re: apexi safc and fsi fuel regulator setting up

is there a reason it needs to be 1:1 as i've just noticed that mine has on the box that its fuel pick-up 1.7 times faster than standard not sure id that means 1:7 though. yes, 1:1 means for every 1psi of boost you gain 1psi of fuel pressure, the FSE regulator will put in 1.7psi of fuel for every 1p...

Re: external wastegate question

Heat wrapped manifold will give problems with cracking, it will also be the cause of your over boost problems. No need to do anything with the stock waste gate, it can be run with the external one as long as you feed the same boost signal from the manifold to both. Right, so I'd be better not wrapp...

Re: external wastegate question

I'm only going to 1 bar of boost, but I'll give this a go, seems the easiest way, T piece and vac hose- sorted The less boost you want to run on a given turbo, the more wastegate you need... it's about the only bit on an engine that needs to get bigger as you lower your power goals. makes sense :th...

Re: external wastegate question

So I had sneaking suspisions that My manifold had cracked, so I've took off the heat wrap, some of the heat wrap had turned into glass... Pretty hot! and yep it is cracked so I'll defo take your manifold mate means I can cut off the flange of both and weld my one into the other without feeling like...
