Re: Laser Alignment

It's incredible how much difference a proper alignment makes. Had mine done and it just rolls so much more smoothly and is so much more predictable and grounded. Left it too long before getting it done though and scrubbed a lot of tread off one of the rear tyres.

Re: Thermostats

When my alternator went it gave me some funny warning light combinations that weren't problems. But battery light was showing too.

Re: Noob turbo build

Water/meth is a bit overkill for 300bhp. It gives you a lot of anti det protection allowing you to run more advanced timing, etc. under boost but is another thing to make sure is kept topped up to prevent your engine going pop. Would also need an EMS to allow it to be remapped to make use of the set...

Re: Longer wheel studs

Also on my rev 1 turbo it seems the rear studs need the same studs as the front. The extended studs I bought off ebay, but was told they were for rears only, was wrong. They didn't fit the rear either and upon taking out a stock stud from the rear they appear to be the same as the front. Ended up or...

Re: Help regarding car covers

Tried using a car cover last year. Got too windy and kept pulling it off. Gave up in the end.

Re: Bonnet Aero Catches

Also buy proper aerocatches from like demon tweaks or something. I bought some from ebay before and they started falling apart relatively quickly with both levers snapping in the end.

Re: What new turbo?

Which mk2 rev do you have?
Revision 1 (12/1989 to 11/1991)
Revision 2 (12/1991 to 11/1993)
Revision 3 (11/1993 to 06/1996)

Re: Link G3 mappers and pre-map recommendations.

I'd recommend Adrian at Fensport. Would also get an electronic boost controller so you can increase boost and have the map configured to run it safely well within injector limits without any detonation.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Greddy PRofec B Spec II - recommended settings?

You will need to tweak it depending on how your turbo, pipework, etc. and everything else behaves together. By the way you will need to find a long straight road without traffic that you can boost it up and down while checking the readings, or have someone else in the car checking it for you. Twiddl...

Think I might have seen you driving around Reading a few times. Red Mk2 in evenings after work working through the traffic just past the Oracle along the road with the big multi storey car park on the left. Haven't seen the purple one before though.

Re: Slight compressor surge with gt3071

Running about 22-23 psi. Haven't had it dyno'd yet but I'm expecting it to be around 350-400bhp. It doesn't surge if I setup the boost to come in more slowly so the wastegate starts opening at around 14psi, but I like a more positive delivery so the high setting on the boost controller starts openin...

Interesting. Thanks guys. I think the exhaust is a mongoose. Not a particular fat exhaust but it isn't too offensive.

Thanks Glen that's good to know. Just out of interest which rev did you have? I'm curious to know how much difference there is between the rev1 and rev3+ turbo head.

Re: Geomotry setup

Apparently when u fit them theres a right angle for the tab to go. Think its with the tab facing up but not sure. The wrong way ends up giving a min of 3 deg camber or something.
