Re: Fensport sc idler, are they made out of chocolate?
I have a brand new, unused one I have had for about a month... :? I just dont see the point in fitting it to my car:it MAY be that the ones that have failed are part of a duff batch (mine may be part of that batch?)... ..or more likely, they're just plain not up to the job..? I may contact Fensport ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] electric super charger ??
Couldn't have put it better myself... :D We did some tests with electric fans, both axial and radial types as a feasibility study for pre-charging the SC12 'charger in the Mk1... Nothing even came close to bringing anything to the party.... However, ther IS a company in Germany, I think, that produc...

Re: Fensport sc idler, are they made out of chocolate?
True..!
But I reckon Fensport will ultimately need to sort this out..?
That idler simply is not up to the job!

Re: Fensport sc idler, are they made out of chocolate?
Sure, Tom.....
But this is a "must have", surely..?
Everyone who fits this pulley kit will have this prob sooner or later, and the cost (financial / inconvenience) of a failure will outweigh a bit of "preventative investment"..

Re: Fensport sc idler, are they made out of chocolate?
Ahh..I see now....! Mart...yes...loading off centre.... So..ideally we need a longer (slightly larger diameter?) stud to mount it on. A wider idler with a bearing race at each end to share the load. A piece of alloy to press said bearings into.. :D Tom....if this is what you're basically looking int...

Re: Fensport sc idler, are they made out of chocolate?
..'uk it....I may even make one.......! Correct me if I'm wrong.....but is it not just a nylon ring with a bearing race pressed into it? Seems to me from the pix that the nylon is heating up / distorting, allowing the bearings to fall out...! OK...so we get a piece of alloy turned to the appropriate...

Re: Fensport sc idler, are they made out of chocolate?
So..the hunt is on for an identical metal version, then..? :D I recently bought the Fensport alloy oversize, and just couldn't believe that the plastic thing they sent was gonna be up to the job, considering the stress its under... Some OEM part somewhere will be identical to this.... Its ju...

Re: [Mk1] [Generic] URGENT HELP REQUIRED
Hi Stuart.
I have this engine in my Mk1: if you have any probs, drop me a line...
If its at all convenient, I can go out and have a look for you..
IE: NOT if its pitch black and p1$$ing down outside...No Garage!

Re: LOTUS CARLTON!!!!!
Wow..the Lotus Carlton... \:D/ I'll never forget in the early 90's, I was driving up the A24 one Sunday morning, and at the end of a mile-or-so-long stretch of (almost deserted) road as I approached a roundabout braking from 70-ish, I happened to glance in my mirror and saw a car in the distance.......

Re: WHY do bigger alloys mean worse handling?
Phew......! That was a HEAVY read...! :D So....to summarise: Bigger alloys DONT necessarily mean worse handling....its just that unless you alter other suspension geometry on your '2, you upset the Mr.T OEM setup..... If you want better handling, get a better handling car..... If you want your car t...

Re: It works in 1/24th scale......
..I'm actually doing very similar to my SC in the new year... It a great idea....but you really need to be looking more RS200 / MK1 MR2 WRC-type... They have vents on the rear of the cover, which allows air from underneath the car and above to merge and somewhere to exit, too... Something like this:...

Re: Why methanol mixed with water in Water Injection
Wideband is virtually essential if you wanna really keep control of A/F ratio. The more power you extract from your engine, the more important accurate AFR becomes... Wideband tells you whats REALLY going on: if a narrowband is detecting lean or rich, it cannot tell you by how much, so you cannot ac...

Re: Why methanol mixed with water in Water Injection
Hmmm....there's a grey area between WI setups and NOS! I suppose you could add any combustible chemical to the mix, but obviously there are corrosion considerations :D ...and you would need to remap the ECU to take these additives into account......etc...etc.... I just use Optimax / Ultimate (ie: a ...

Re: Why methanol mixed with water in Water Injection
I use WI instead of an intercooler in my AE101 Mk1 conversion....and the thing flies.. :D I'm only running about 8psi boost, so its ok..... 8) I've recently started adding Methanol (30%) to the water...mainly for the coming winter, to prevent my ERL pump from cracking......BUT the REAL reason for us...
