Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Map sensor

Well...for a start, there is something to consider.... I have a Mk1 conversion, with a Levin AE101 S/C engine in it. This uses a MAP sensor with a Roots 10psi SC12. I have an electronic boost gauge fitted to the MAP output, and it does show vacuum in the manifold. I think its a lot simpler than you ...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] electric supercharger

...And pretty much what EVERYONE said..... :D ...but with Pix..! TBH, the Thomas Knight stuff is good...in fact, the only REAL solution..! After all, if you use the same REAL supercharger that gives low-down boost/torque...and power it with a motor/s, then you cannot really go wrong, can you...? How...

Re: In it or Under it?

Mine's my daily runner....so, definitely an "in it"! However, I seem to spend more time "round it" and "peering in the engine bay / boot"..than actually "under"....! All that will change around Easter, mind you, and I will defo be "under"..! :D My po...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] electric supercharger

25,000rpm? The CT26 will be spinning at around that at 1000rpm in neutral. At 1bar and 5000rpm it will be spinning at nearer 125,000rpm... my Fiat Uno Turbo with it's IHI turbo on a 1.3 engine making 160bhp using 1bar of boost pressure was spinning at 160,000rpm! 25,000rpm? Absolutely no point what...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] electric supercharger

Airflow figures are absolutely pointless..... Airflow and pressure are two entirely different things. If you have a given fan in a tube, moving x cfm of air and drawing x amps, that is one thing. If you then block up the outlet of the tube, the air being moved has nowhere to go, therefore pre...

Re: mk1b dropped 30mm on 17's?

Yeh, i'd proceed with caution: My car had 17" BK Racing alloys fitted when i bought it, and it rubbed like crazy on the inner arches when the steering wheel was at half-lock or more.. Didn't like speed humps much, either.... ....and that was with standard suspenders, not lowered at all......

Re: [Mk2] [NA] electric supercharger

I've just bought one of these for ...erm..."evaluation".. Basically...forget it...! If, say, your electric SC is activated at 2000rpm engine speed, and is measured at 2 psi boost @ 25k rpm motor speed, if you blip the throttle to 4k, then unless the motor increases to 50k, then y...

Re: couple of newbie questions

...And I'm based at Worthing: drop in for a quick coffee en route to Brighton sometime, as I'm only 30 seconds from the A27 @ Lyons Farm..... :D

I had my REALLY bad arches/ lower rear quarters replaced by Johnsons in Burgess Hill: excellent, pro job, but a tad pricey!

Re: Supercharger pulley

Now with the oversized pulleys I had to delete the air bypass valve. Will that be a problem with the reg. pulley? I would need to get rid of that extra boost at idle since the SC would be spin all the time right? No. The boost it generates idling is nothing worth speaking about. I accidentaly had m...

Re: Replacing door hinges (on the cheap!)

I refurbished mine last year: involved removal, dismantling (with a hacksaw!) and replacing the bar with a suitable-sized Stainless bolt with nyloc nut. Basically, you drill out the worn part of the hinge: I sleeved the SS bolt with a brass tube to give a nice snug fit....and the result is like new....

Re: Intermediate shaft on the steering column

Sorry: no pix...... :( But from memory...(it was 2 years ago, now..!)... Undo UJ bolt (to rack) behind the pedals. Undo the 2 shear bolts holding steering column to the dashboard..: IIRC, this was a right PITA, requiring a pair of molegrips..... Then the column just drops away, and if the &qu...

Re: Intermediate shaft on the steering column

I went the silicon sealant route....

Er...no...sorry, my memory fails me...

I ACTUALLY used a great product called Sikaflex 221... :D

It is black, and sets like rubber, and you can get it from your local Partco...(they may have to order it in, tho...!)

Made for the job...! :D

I almost posted this public...but I thought better of it:  I've had my polyflex on for four years now no problems...if anything it made the car crisper and sharper. The technology might not have been something TRD invested in. T ...Not on the Twincharger, by any chance......not actually...

Re: [All] [Generic] TRD Bush kit.....Best place to get...?

OOps!... .. Sounds like the beginnings of yet another suspension debate...! :D I agree, it has to be purely down to cost that OEMs use the rubber ones... But the various bushes must have a marked effect on the overall suspension setup: the manufacturer designs the overall package with, say, r...

Well, that was gonna be the "plan B"... :D However, they're rock hard plastic jobbies...... The whole point of these bushes is they're part of the suspension, theres meant to be a bit of "give" in them.......! The TRD ones are rubber, but about twice as hard as stock: the ...
