Dates - and half way stop off
Hi All... In order to make use of a £66 special offer from Sea-France I'm booking my ticket today. My plan is to leave on Thursday 28/07/2011, and spend the night at the Nurburgring. Return on Monday as before. There is an evening opening at the 'Ring 28.07.2011 - 17:15 >> 19:30 And it happens to be...

Re: Dizzy cap? That will be £390+ VAT at Toyota!
A "copper contact" cap is a modified original cap.... I always used original Toyota caps when making them, but BluePrint have modified their moulding now and are just as good. I#ve made a few over the years as did Ben Formesyn, I don't know anyone else at present. You can search the intern...

One quick question - I may have missed something...
What's with the Tiny Tiny looking Bosch Oil Filter?
Is that something specific / special for new builds?

£38.39 FFS !!#@!
Even at that price - Way Way Way too expensive for Tubby Oil.
Save yourself a Tenner,
Comma Motorsport.
Took my car to ~175,000 Miles on the original Turbo with many a trackday.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] How to Test Front lower Ball Joints?
twisting the wheel left and right about the hub tests the track-rod ends - you need to ask someone to hold the steering wheel solid, as the wheel lock allows a lot of movement. Rocking the wheel top/bottom about the hub tests the wheel bearing. Ball joints - These pin the bottom of the hub in a fixe...

Re: Going to try and restore my drivers leather seat ...
To be honest, from what I know now I would not bother with a Repair... Speak to one of our German friends on the Events Duderstadt thread. They have a company over there selling complete new covers that are good enough to be OEM (Saw some last year) - cost was around the £100 mark if I recall.... Mu...

There is a Bolt on the end face of the Plenum pointing towards the nearside (airbox side) The Thread just so happens to be 1/8NPT You can easily purchase industrial air pipe fittings (for ~3mm air pipe) from the likes of RS - and get your perfect boost gauge feed from here. Re: Race pads and tyres
I tried the Porterfield R4s pads after my first set of Carbotech Panther Plus (this is a long time before MR2 Championship fame) The Carbotech's lasted a good year of road use and numerous trackdays. The Porterfields were gone in a fraction of the time - one trackday if I remember correctly So from ...

Re: dizzy
There is an internal oil seal on the shaft of the distributor. This used to be such a problem that there was a DIY re-build write up on MR2.com 11 years ago when I bought my car - Toyota didn't offer rebuild kits which left people having to purchase a new distributor unit. I can't find that original...

Re: REV3 Turbo on track *advice please*
Maybe I was just very lucky with my old motor... But I would say Stock ECU and Timing will be fine for heavy trackday use. The only 'additional' you should need is better intercooling to deal with being on boost more of the time, and a good Synth Oil (Comma Motorsport). ** I should add that I do rec...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Spluttering in the morning then clears up? Any ideas?
If you are still having trouble, could I suggest another couple of areas to check that won't cost you a penny... MAP Sensor. This is the primary sensor responsible for fuelling in a Rev3. It can be found on the rear of the engine bay, drivers side next to the "Check Connector". It has a Pu...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Bit Random Charge Cooler
fridges aren't meant to deal with a continuous heat load & won't last very long if they're having to deal with one. These Mini-Fridges use a Peltier, not a Compressor based heat exchanger - so they can deal with continuous heat transfer. The problem is that it's not going to shift enough energy...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Bit Random Charge Cooler
No... Not Really.
The fridge is going to be rated ~50w at most and that's a tiny drop in the heat energy you want to shift.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] cracked downpipe...again
My turbo had a Rogue downpipe on it for 6+ years without failure. I think I only fitted the bottom bracket after a couple of years use. My exhaust flexi was a lot less susceptable to engine tilt because the old braded one had been replaced with Flexible Gas Pipe EG http://www.westerntydens.co.uk/acc...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Non-Start and clicking from the rear
The clicking noise you hear is because the voltage at the starter is dropping when you turn the key... EG Turn to Crank, Starter relay switches on and Energises the starter solenoid. Starter solenoid pulls the starter gear into contact with the flywheel ring gear (That's the click). The Second funct...

The Union where the pipes bolt on is a different diameter Rev3+ I've seen aftermarket Rads in the USA, but by the time you've added Postage and Duty you may as well have gone to Toyota. Get friendly with the likes of Rogue, as they will be stripping rads from Import Rev3+ for the racing series - it'...
