Rev 3 turbo engine problems - fuelling/fault code 14
Having engine problems with car off road since starting problems in December when it suddenly started cutting out on startup a lot having been driven normally an hour before. Breakdown recovery thought it was fuelling - starvation such as blocked filter or tired fuel pump, and suggested replacing fu...

Re: MR2's and E10 Petrol
I read that if need E5 petrol then use Super Unleaded from September.
The mr2 turbo cars should be on Super Unleaded anyway as that is the closest fuel we have to the 100 octane in Japan.

Re: Sw20 Mr2 article in classic & sports car magazine March 2021
Thanks for posting the article. (not my car). Pretty reliable cars if use them enough to keep oils and lubes in the right place and prevent stuff from seizing up. Dont be afraid of a higher mileage mr2 as they can easily do a couple of hundred thousand miles before the rot gets them. A lot of people...

Red mr2s M3 Fleet serices
Couple of red mr2 turbos in Fleet services southbound. Nice to have a chat with the Winchester/Southampton guys that said hello. Would have been nice to look at the cars properly but I was in need of disappearing to spend a penny having been stuck in 2 traffic jams near J3. Could do an mr2 meetup wi...

Re: Handling - twitchy above 60mph
As your car has been off the road for a number of years, how old are the tyres? Very old rubber can give handling issues.
My car gets twitchy in the wet once the tyre tread gets down to 3 mm.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Stock NA shocks with Koni inserts on a Rev 3 turbo?
With all the potholes and speed bumps and car park ramps I would not lower an mr2. If you can get them, the correct oem shocks are pretty good for road use if they are not worn out. Putting the correct oem shocks on your car will make your insurance a lot cheaper - good money you can spend on things...

Re: CT20B Rebuild
I have used Turbo Technics and had one that was great and lasted many years doing mega miles, and another that was very low miles (bought second hand) that let oil passed the seals in a few months. Current one is rebuilt by Universal Turbos and happy with it. Stick with std CT20b for any lightly mod...

Re: rear side window removal.
My previous car had a bare metal respray. Painter was worried about the rear quarter windows breaking removing them. Mine did not break but one had the plastic surround distort not long after refitting so there was a gap rain could get behind while driving. No idea if the rain got passed the sealant...

Re: How to make the car less crashy??
The oem shock and springs are ok on uk roads as a daily driver. What does make them worse is tired shocks and mis-matched tyres on oem wheels or not enough tread left on the tyres in the rain even if they are still road legal. If it has the original shocks, put new shocks on it. Dont mix tyre brand/...

Re: New OEM Toyota springs? What are the other options?
Are you sure you need new springs? I have gone through many shocks on rev3 turbos and never needed springs. The first one did around 205 000 miles on original springs. (Did the top mounts once). Current can has done around 165 000 miles on original springs and top mounts, and I have changed all the ...

Re: Windscreen Wiper Motors
I have a 1992 Rev 2 GT Turbo, are there any differences in the wiper motors over the years/across the SW20 model range? I know for a fact there are different wiper motors assemblies for SW20 Rev3 GT Turbo cars that I have owned. The wiper motor assembly is a physically different size/shape dependin...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Steering lock not disengaging turning the key
Thanks for the replies. Toyota said they were unable to help as they were convinced there was something in the fob to do with factory fit security that would still be needed that they were unable to program. I knew what that was not relevant due to aftermarket security plus the battery in the Toyota...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Steering lock not disengaging turning the key
Putting the key in the ignition and turning it normally turns through the first position to release the steering lock before turning further to start the engine. My key is no longer getting passed the steering lock. The wheels are fairly straight and there is a little bit of steering turn left/right...

Rubber rejuvenator around all the door and window seals has worked for me.
Do the frunk and boot seals at the same time.
Also tbars seals for cars that have them.

Re: Are uk 3sge's actually inherently gutless? And what about BEAMS cars?
Anyone looking at buying an mr2 should check what tyres are fitted. Any cheap ditch finder tyres (or tyres worn down to 2mm used in the wet) will make the whole performance a lot worse than it could be. Not just acceleration but cornering and braking as well. When I got a low mileage mr2 to replace ...

Re: Going back to standard steering wheel
Might need wheel alignment doing afterwards to get the wheels pointing straight with the steering wheel centred. (When I had mine done the front wheels were straight and the steering wheel was centred before taking aftermarket steering wheel off, and they put the stock steering wheel on as straight ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Canuck in need of TRC info and any help possible!
Hi ya I used to have a 1994 JDM mr2 mk2 rev3 turbo that had the Toyota ABS/TRC. Owned it from around 2001 thru 2014(ish) and never had a problem with the TRC, maybe because it was driven a lot as my only car and had over 200,000 miles on the clock when I sold it. (Clock was in km, but that is the eq...
