Re: Stock Bilstein Set up

the new shocks have made a load of difference. My car had tired shocks (probably original based on car mileage) that still passed the MOT when I bought it. I soon replaced all of them with standard new shocks and it made a huge improvement. (I knew it would as I had another mr2 that I could directl...

Rev3 Turbo Image Replaced With URL For Quote http://i65.tinypic.com/2qxp305.gif The red engine fan warning light came on when stuck in traffic yesterday, am I right in thinking this indicates a problem with the intercooler fan? I have a translated owners manual. For that warning light it says: Radi...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Rev 2 suspension refresh

Interesting, I had a chat with a guy earlier who was a a garage in Cheyney Manor?? Asking where to get shocks for a turbo as Toyota couldn't supply any. Is this because they asked Toyota only for a Bilstein shock? Last time I got shocks (a couple of years ago for a Rev 3 turbo) Toyota could get sta...

Re: Leaky T-Bar - I know, I know!

I have had leaks at one or both of those points. It can be because the Tbar has been off and not quite put back on the same way and it will still latch down as there is a bit of wiggle room. Other than that it gives me the hint I need to use the rubber restorer/rejuvenator (so I then do all the acce...

20k on T1R's on the rear... Driving like Miss Daisy! Spirited road driving when safe to do so. I have not taken the mr2 on a track, but I am a track trained biker so I am comfortable cornering at speeds without braking that have many road drivers going for the brakes or running wide on the exit or ...

Re: Tyre choices?

20,000 is a lot out of any tyres IMO  I'm lucky to get 5/6000 out of my AD08R's  I have found the T1R's on my MX5 to last quite well though, but 20k is still an achievement lol  The front T1Rs last about 30,000 miles running them at 34psi. 34psi for the front tyres is higher than ...

Re: Tyre choices?

Yeah I hit boost... those modern car drivers often get surprised how quick an old mr2 is.... and how well it goes through corners without having to use the brakes lol. Sounds like you need to check your tyre pressures (i am running 34psi front and back) and get your alignment done. Or maybe you been...

Re: Tyre choices?

Rev3GtTurbo - I've got a Rev 3 Turbo at 250whp, I think they lasted about sub 5,000 miles. I have a Rev 3 Turbo. Not put it on a dyno but it had a new turbo last year and good compressions. I get about 20,000 miles out of those T1R rears running 34 psi. Pressure checked every few weeks. Tracking/wh...

Re: Fog Light Bulbs

I got some H3 bulbs from a well known high street autofactors having checked their bulb guide. They did not fit as H3 have the wrong connector for a rev3 GT turbo. The old bulbs had 452/H3C written on them. The autofactors place didnt do these. Toyota had 2 part numbers on the system for my chasis n...

It might help if you said in more detail where the water is getting in. Maybe post pics pointing at all the places.

Replacing the rubbers is the last resort as it is the most expensive option.

Re: Fuel filler cap

Had this a couple of times many years ago. It has become pressurised. Leave it for 20-30 minutes for the pressure to equalise and it should undo as normal. After that I did not tighten the cap quite so much and it stopped happening. The next time it happened years later I think it was because the fu...

When you replaced the HT leads, did you use genuine Toyota leads? (Some aftermarket ones dont quite fit properly for some reason and can cause weird problems)...

I've tried but it doesn't seem to work I've followed the guide on how to do it but I can't seem to even get the engine light to flash it might have something to do with there being lots of vasaline in there maybe. I think the grease in there is stop the connector corroding? You might need to remove...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Ruff idle and jerky exceleration

Welcome to the forum. Not sure how familiar you are with these old turbo cars. Has the car been modified? They run a bit rough if not using super unleaded fuel (supermarket super is all it needs) but you have other problems. They dont really use the turbo in 1st/2nd gear which might explain why you ...
