Re: [Mk2] [Generic] windscreen wiper motor differences 11,12,21,22
In both cases the clearance between brace bar and wiper motor is similar due to the difference in size/shape/protrusions of the standard wiper motor for that configuration. It is one of those things best explained with a picture/photo. (Dont think I have any of the less common configuration and I ca...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] windscreen wiper motor differences 11,12,21,22
It depends!.... see below. I had two 94 rev3 turbos. They had different Toyota OEM braces to the front turrets - one went to the bolt at the front of the turret and on the other car it went to the bolt at the rear of the turret. Both had the same mounting to the bulkhead and the angle of the brace b...

Re: PAS light
Sometimes the PAS relay sticks. Turn the ignition switch on (without starting the engine) and off several times in quick succession usually sorts it.

Re: New Purchase,,,, Where to start!?
Some people on a budget will delay the "big"/"expensive" jobs as much as possible including a cam belt change. Be wary if there is no service history of a cam belt change or it has exceeded its age/mileage as it wont last forever. I thought I read about one years ago where the ca...

Re: Rattling noise...
A couple of times I have had weird engine bay rattles over the years and not found anything loose. Turned out to be mechanic leaving a socket on the right side of the block and it being hidden under pipe work.

Re: How bad is rust?
A Mk2 will last a lot longer than a couple of years and easily clock up over 200,000 miles if you dont let the rust spread and drive it often enough to keep it all working. Best way of stopping rust spreading is to cut it out. Underseal might help prevent rust forming in the first place on a rust-fr...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] FRONT FOG LIGHT BULB???
JDM rev3 steering fog lights use a H3c bulb. I needed them last year and they were difficult to find so I ordered them from Toyota no problem. If you stay with H3C bulbs, it will help the fog light beam alignment if you do the job with the steering wheel straight. If you forget to do that, when you ...

Re: Shades of 3E5 Red...
Just order stuff for a 1991 model, unless it's LHD/RHD specific it'll fit. Only part where you need to be careful is with brakes as their later model NA's still have the smaller Revision 1 brakes even though US Turbo's have the larger ones. I dont know if that is always correct for Rev 1 but with a...

Re: Raising the car to get over some larger speed bumps
Stock suspension in good condition will clear any legal speedbump in the UK. You sure about that? Its a bit like saying stock suspension in good condition will clear any legal ramp angles in UK multi-story car parks. I remember one multistory car park where my previous mr2 got up the ramps ok but o...

Re: About keys
Actually I found one very worn key, which looks similar to the one I have currently in use. That worn key opens only driver's door and ignition lock. I guess that the reason for not opening trunk nor passenger side door is that those lock barrels have been seldomly used and that key is too worn esp...

Re: About keys
I have seen a few 94 JDM Tbar turbos and none of them had key locks on the Tbars.
Never heard of locking TBars.
My other thought is maybe the Tbars are not the originals for that actual car?
Are they actually locked?

Re: New wiper arms
Several years ago I asked Mr T about wiper arms cos they were just starting to rust and I was recommended to try Hammerite Black as new wiper arms were about 50 quid each.
On my next mr2 I sprayed them early.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Best all round speaker setup
Not looking for everyone to know what I'm listening to Good plan... it will save your hearing. I liked the speakers that were put in my car (alpine spg-13cs) but they need to be turned up a bit too loud to hear the detail in the music being played. The louder they are the better the sound. Too loud...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] new suspension - options
one of the standard shocks were shot after 5k :o but two years so couldnt take it back I usually get loads more than that out of standard shocks. If the roads in your area are really bad you need to tell your local council as they wont want cars damaged prematurely by bad roads. Tell them how much ...

Brought it to the test centre today and it failed on the High idle only and the lambda was just within spec. Results: High Idle - Lambda 0.97 (between 0.97 + 1.03 is a pass) 2830rpm - CO 1.1 vol% (above 0.30% is a fail) HC 73ppm (below 200 is a pass) The low idle passed fine 950rpm - CO 0.20 vol% (...

Re: Exhaust performance - Japspeed vs Mongoose
A friend has a mongoose on the mr2. They dont need to use the doorbell when they arrive (driving sensibly). lol I would say if going to use the car as a daily driver the mongoose will make you more tired by the time you get somewhere cos of the bass/drone even doing motorway cruising. I have also no...

Re: Turbo
Not a bad price that. The £612 I paid was for a full recondition (came back looking like a brand new turbo), steel wheel/shaft and 360 degree thrust washer to replace the 270 degree stock item. So essentially, an upgraded CT20b to replace the weak parts of the stock item. They did mine in 2015, alt...
