I am rebuilding my 91 G special Auto in April (if I can find a good enough garage). Does anyone out there know a good garage near to Stoke on Trent to do this? Reliable - and knows about the car? My experience so far has been rubbish... no one knows what to do with them.. even got tyre sizes wrong.....

[Mk2] [Generic] tyre sizes for Mk 2 gspecial tbar 91 - seems local garages havent a clue

Help needed with tyre sizes Mk 2 auto gspecial 91. Hi. I really need some help. I have recently found out that the car I am driving has the wrong tyres on. Apparently the back wheels/tyres are larger than the front - but some fool has put the larger ones on the front and small on the back!! This was...

Re: wheels and tyres

Thank you for that brilliant reply! Haha on the 'manly' tyres... I sort of sneak up on people in the car - little blonde lady,,, ex rally/rallycross driver! My son will say 'o great' when I get this done! I take note on the winter tyres as well. I will be reducing the inflation come the bad weather....

Re: wheels and tyres

Thanks Slarty for the quick reply. So the garage that is putting the same tyres on all 4 wheels is wrong! Wish there was a garage near Stoke on Trent that knows Mr2s. I read online that I should put 32 in the front and 34 in the back, but higher in winter... what do you think? Again, thanks.

wheels and tyres

Hi there. I have a 91 mr2, gspecial. auto import. Standard wheels. Same tyre size on all 4... but I have some new wheels ready to put on, and the tyres at the back are wider. Is this right? How will this change handling? Sorry to sound thick, but are the tyres supposed to be wider at the back, cos w...

[Mk2] [Generic] Thank You's and mechanics (who aren't)

Just a note to say thank you to all who replied to me reference my alternator. Nope, not fixed. 'mechanic' in garage (who said he knew MR2's) let me order wrong alternator from TCB Performance (who are fantastic) and then said it took 4 1/2 hours to see that it was the wrong alternator - after I ask...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] help! all dash lights on all the time on MR2 auto 1991

Thanks you for replying. I had another message saying the alternator,.. the garage I called said it was ok to drive to them, but I was really concerned... that problem solved itself, as the car is dead, power wise from yesterday, so will have to be towed in. Rescue service again I guess. I just wish...

[Mk2] [Generic] help! MR2 auto gspecial has all lights on on dashboard

My battery failed, and now its recharged, all the lights are on all the time on the dashboard. Why is this? I am worried, as the oil pump sheared recently and a cowboy charged me a pot to fix it (not well). Can anyone tell me why the lights are on? Thank you

[Mk2] [NA] help! all dash lights on all the time on MR2 auto 1991

Help. My 91 auto gspecial had a flat battery due to some sod trying to break into in & the interior light being on all night - when battery back on, the dash lights are on all the time. Worried, as the oil pump sheared early this year, and the garage the car was taken to was a bunch of cowboys.....

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] HELP MECH. DOESNT KNOW WHATS WRONG WITH CAR Gspecial auto 91

You would think they came from another planet!!! When I first had the car, I had no history of cambelt.. so decided on a new one... one guy even asked where the engine was!! May have found one, well, at least he knew how to start the car!! One garage said they couldnt do diagnostics on the car (he c...
