Re: Ollie's 1988 Mk1.5

I remember everyone saying years ago 'oh you won't get more than 350bhp out of a 205cc' Mind you I'd be happy with 350 at the flywheel anyway! What fueling stuff are you using? I remember the old grey car up at the old garage and thinking wow that looks amazing. Then getting closer and seeing the cr...

Re: K20/k24 swaps

Well I look forward to seeing the build thread! :thumleft:

Again excuse my ignorance but I don't know honda stuff at all, are the fancy K24 builds using the k24 block and then using the head off a k20? Like a 5sgte build?

Re: K20/k24 swaps

How much power do K24s make anyway? Part of me likes the idea of a decent NA build.

I didn't realise the blocks were alloy also! So yeah you'd save a bunch of weight over the 3sgte

Re: K20/k24 swaps

I'm pretty sure Hux are the only people who make a proper swap kit for this. I looked into it but I feel like an NA K20 would feel a bit slow in a 1200kg car. If you wanted to go with turbo it looks like you have to start cutting into the rear bulkhead because the exhaust manifold is on the opposite...

Did you notice any difference with these? It does look like it's moved the wing above the roof line.

Re: Better top mounts for 98 mr2?

Those don't work on normal struts though.

I bought a set for my H&R coilovers up front so I could get more clearance and camber. You couldn't get them on with the standard top nut, he's added some thinner style topnuts now but they werent available when i bought em. :-k

Re: Better top mounts for 98 mr2?

Yeah pretty much, oem toyota or any one thats made by a major oem style company (kyb bilstein etc) is gonna be fine.

Cheap unbranded ones will be crap

Re: Better top mounts for 98 mr2?

It's not worth it buying second hand ones as they are rubber and like bushings will have perished over time. TRD's are identical in design to the standard Toyota ones just apparently made from slightly stiffer rubber. Also discontinued. Aside from toyota the other option I'd say would be KYB ones ht...

Re: Better top mounts for 98 mr2?

Which topmounts did you buy? If I didn't have my TRD ones I'd be going for the oem toyota ones, but I'm not sure if they make em anymore.

Re: oVerboost's MR2 GT Rev4

You still got em for sale?

If I hadn't bought a turbo and a downpipe I would've had em. If you still have em in a month or so I might fancy em. I might need to switch to 17's for a brake upgrade.

Re: Advice on engine check

Yea, I've run cars on stock suspension and coilovers with poly bushes and the actual dampers and springs make more of a difference in ride quality with mr2's than the bushings. It's just a good idea to go over the bushings because if they are still original they'll be shot anyway. I don't even know ...

I forget is this still using a standard E153 box? Or is it some special sequential one?

Re: Advice on engine check

The motor and the associated electronics are identical between the two cars, barring the stuff for the Celicas A2W IC because the MR2 had a sidemount instead. Engine mounts should be mr2 ones anyway, same goes for other stuff that would be different like the alternator. It's pretty uncommon to use t...

Re: Advice on engine check

Shocks and springs are different from turbo to NA though, the weight distribution is different due to the turbo engine/gearbox being heavier than the na. If you look at lowering springs listed on yahoo japan, there are usually two variants for both na and turbos. All turbos from Rev2 onwards got Bil...

It was an awesome day! Only forty cars booked on - I've never known it so quiet. Over four miles of track to play on too.Perfect! Car performed brilliantly too. A little brake judder towards the end but like you I had so much track time I'm not at all surprised. Could just be the Yellow Stuff givin...

Re: New OEM Toyota springs? What are the other options?

What about eibachs? iirc they are progressive springs with not too harsh a springrate, plus I remember everyone complaining that they weren't much lower than std rev3 height. MR2 ben sells an OEM spec spring made by sachs who are a big german oem on par with billstein. https://mr2-ben.co.uk/products...
