A brace of Mk1's in Lancs

Tidy white mk1 spotted going past BAE Systems at Salmesbury and a red one spied from the roof of the Reebok Stadium on Tesco Extra car park in Horwich. (Saturday 24th).

Re: gearbox filler bolt rounded

I had the same trouble with mine, it was unbelievably tight and started to get a bit mangled after a few attempts (being so shallow doesnt help). Ended up heating the surrounding casing and it came off very easily and replaced with a brand new one. Similar situation with my daily, except it was one ...

Re: 'Classics' magazine, mr2 inside

Good result for the Mk1 MR2 if you ask me and to lose out to the MX5 by one point on maintenance doesn't seem unfair at all. I didn't even realise they were considered a "classic". I remember considering an MX5 before I bought my '2 but it didn't tick as many boxes for me personally. Like ...

Re: Cheap in/out car cam setup

I've bought the smaller keychain version after seeing them on SXOC - they're all going mad for them on there! It cost me £7.50 inc postage, just waiting for a microSD card to turn up in the post (£11ish). They are tiny! I'm going to try it on a mate's RC helicopter, the car and climbing wall...for s...

Autoglym Vinyl & Rubber care, spray it on...leave it for 15min then go back and wipe off the excess.

2 Mk1's - Burnley.

The sun must be bringing them out, tidy red one I've seen before driven by bearded bloke on Accrington Rd on Saturday.

White one seen looking for parking Standish St wednesday morning.

Mr T sell them on their own, not too pricey either (2 - 3 quid).

Re: Funny Story

I had a similar experience when I first got mine. I had a knocking noise and I'd read about droplinks being the prime suspect. It was only when I had the bumper off (for another job), I found the culprit - someone had left an air duster on the plastic shield under the o/s headlight! :D

Re: what do you do when you see another one...?

I've only seen one while in mine, I popped the headlights and they waved back.

If I see one any other time I give them a thumbs up but don't always get a response (understandable I suppose) :)

Don't really bother with mk2's and 3's as you see them everywhere.

Re: Where do these connectors go?

Thanks for the replies - Still can't find where the second one goes though and now the black wire has snapped off the the connector right at the base where it's held in by some kind of resin. So I guess that's something else that needs replacing! :( Don't suppose anyone has a spare do they? - or kno...

Where do these connectors go?

I've had the alternator off and I can't remember where these connectors go  as there was some time inbetween taking it off and putting it back on. Can't find anywhere nearby this one that it could go on :? (Taken from underside of alternator) http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/185/dscf0043ny9....

My MR2 Slideshow Vid

I've had this up on youtube for a while now and forgot to post a link on here until now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJ_GWwTkZls I put it together with photos I'd taken before I started pulling it apart for the refurb and watch it now and again for inspiration to keep going! Hope it won't ...

Re: My Black 87 20Valve

I like the rear spoiler, very F40. Not keen on doors and roundy front but that's just personal taste. What's it like to get in and out of? Those seats look quite deep and what with the lambo doors there doesn't look much room to negotiate it and keep your dignity.

Re: What option would you choose? Fix mine up or buy another?

I'd stick with the one you've got I think. Like you say you're only going to find cars with similar issues for the money. I'm currently refurbing mine and was missing driving it badly recently so I started looking round for a sub £500 example just to get my mk1 fix. I came to my senses though which ...

Re: Opinions please.......!

I quite like the exterior look, especially the wheels, no boot spoiler and black roof although the gold paint is a bit lairy for my taste.
Not impressed with the wiring inside, looks a bit of an afterthought.

The buy it now price sounds a bit optimistic though I'm no expert.

Re: Restoration .....56k Beware NEW PICS

Looks a top job - excellently documented too! Do you have the door windows tinted? They look great against the black trim. Are you planning on replacing the rubbing strips from the doors etc? I'll be respraying mine soon and wondered what it would look like without them as mine had been sprayed over...
