Re: Cheaper alternative to AD08?
Yep pretty much just wear rate and price
Treadwear rating is 180, R1R is 120, R888 less than one hundred.
They do have quite a stiff sidewall, and some additional road noise, but for what amounts to a semi-slick thats to be expected.

Re: Cheaper alternative to AD08?
Worth. Every. Penny. :thumleft: Wet weather performance of the AD08 compared to the T1R... no comparison. Also they are formulated to work right down to -10c. I found they were great in freezing conditions Really? I always thought tyres like the AD08 struggle in the wet. This changes things... :cla...

Do you have standard alloys? Very little in the way of a sports tyre available for the OEM sizes.

Re: clutch slipping at Drag Strip, dec 2015 query? new clutch time! OS Giken!!!
I'm inclined to agree. Your clutch should be able to overcome the surface at Pod and your R1Rs when sidestepping at 5k, IMO. As Bob points out, dropping the clutch and controlling the wheelspin is the best way, makes the tyres take all the stress. 2 years straight you've had clutch issues on the str...

Re: clutch slipping at Drag Strip, dec 2015 query? new clutch time! OS Giken!!!
I found the best launch was 3k and side step the clutch. Granted not on the strip but it never failed on the road with AD08s. I would generally get the clutch level with the foot rest, raise the revs, then side step off the clutch and nail the throttle. IMO the key is loading up the drive train as f...

£1800!
I'm paying less than £400 on the Mazda on a no-NCB limited mileage policy. Unlimited mods(no cages) up to 320hp. This is with need2insure

Re: Is the Celica GT4 a good MR2 Tubby replacement?
I have unfinished business with the EG Civic  My VTi was written off about 2 months after I bought it by some old coot pulling out of his driveway without looking I had planned to turbocharge it. It already had a quaife LSD and fully rebuilt box. Chassis was superb for a scrabbler, just needed ...
