Re: Recommended / Essential Track Day mods?
Suspension - bushes (most likely if not done before) & shocks, ideally adjustables. Othwerwise you will not enjoy the handling so much. Get the 4 wheel aligmnent done after the suspension work. Brakes - just get the good fluid, use standard pads, but make sure the calipers do work (rears often d...

Re: More geometry setting questions...
In my experience there is no point going over 1.2mm toe in PER SIDE on the rear, otherwise you will shag your tires more with little benefit. Aynone with different experience as to "stability" is welcome to post. If you want to track it, and you should set front camber around or a bit stee...

Re: Finally brought a Mk1 !
Buying cars should always involve viewing and test driving them. Unless you are a scrappy and pay £50.

How long should it take a garage to get it done (including the thermostat) ?
Just had it done and thought that 4+ hrs they mentioned was a bit long.

Re: Finally brought a Mk1 !
Why on earth would anyone buy a car without viewing? It was only MR2 and £800 but looks like some people would do it for much dearer cars. Glad you got the sound one the 2nd time though

Re: How much wear does a trackday put on tyres?
On my MK1 it's usually only around 1mm (yes! have gone on average through over 1 tyre set and that included 8 tracks and 10000 miles in general), and I mean that on a dry track with rather decent hard driving. Similar wear for Protenzas and Dunlop SP9000. Apparently it's a lot worse on MK2. Still su...

Thanks Helen for the post. It looks tempting, but it doesnt quite clearly say if it's going to be open pit lane and what hours it runs across ?

Re: suspension (bare with me)
Why not go for the Koni kit - adjustable dampers with lowering springs can be bought for £350-£380. So many people seem to have gone for KYBs and then whinged about the ride etc. I'm quite happy with my Konis even at the hardest setting on the road, I find them less crashy then my original 19 y.o. s...

Re: TRACKDAY and ACTIVITY WEEKEND! *Rockingham 22nd/23rd Sept*
It was my 3rd time on Rocky International Long, I was expecting worse mess with so many people, but I would say it was as usual (maybe except the red flags), not too busy, so I did enjoy it a lot again. Driving standards - I have always experienced some nutters overtaking you without consent and not...

Looks like it will be a busy day, hope not too many people (that is cars) on the track at a time. Rain - I hope it's dry, cause it's too slippery in the wet over there...

1) The way it drives & feels, especially the steering
2) The looks, arrow-like and quite like nothing else
Yes, it is a very special car to me and increasingly rare on the roads...

Half day split between 2? No way you will get satisfied
Just had a day there last Monday, I like this circuit even more now, even though I managed to land in the gravel once. Definitely a good track to test your car cornering behaviour.

Re: Just £1500 for an S2000 engine...obvious question follows...
I have also started thinking of the VTECT (R-Type Civic) engine in my MK1 rather than the 3sGTE as I prefer non-turbo, and the 200 hp should be really lovely. Why should it cost more anyway? Also anyone knows how the engine+box weight of that compares to the standard MK1's ?
