Re: Cheap Windscreens...

RAC autowindscreens, cost £50 through insurance.

If you're fully comp, you will probably have windscreen cover. This apparently doesn't affect your NCBs.

Re: Collecting new Tubby - ADVICE needed

Is it possible that the rev3 turbo is pretty close to the line on 95 octane, and even small changes can make a difference to the fuel required? I was thinking that an intake and free-flowing exhaust on a turbo engine will alter back pressure, turbo pressure, and intake pressure even if only slightly...

Re: H&T Prothane Bush Kit #2

I really ought to check in here more often! I'm in: 1994 REV3 turbo, not got a clue about ARB size yet, but full kit including ARB thingys too please! I'm no mechanic, so how easy is it to find the ARB size? I wouldn't know where to look under the car! It's all original fittings if that helps. Jim ...

Re: Collecting new Tubby - ADVICE needed

I've reset the ECU and run 5 tanks of optimax. It may have made a bit of a difference in power, but I've not missed it since I went back to 95. I don't drive that hard all the time, just every now and again when the mood takes me: I usually get over 30MPG on average. BTW, you say not modded, but you...

Re: Collecting new Tubby - ADVICE needed

Sorry to disagree, but if you have a healthy standard engine, then a rev3 turbo will run on 95 RON. I have been running mine happily on 95 for 5 years, and have tried Super, Optimax etc, and the power loss for dropping is minor. The car runs smoothly, boosts fine, and I've not experience any knockin...

Re: Steamy Windows?

The weather has changed drastically over the last week, and I've noticed a huge amount of condensation on both my MR2, and on my wife's SEAT Leon. Usually clears within 10 minutes of starting the engine and pumping the fans up though. I put the 2 away in the garage for the first time in ages last ni...

Toyota to standard DIN connector block not an option here? That's what I have, an it works fine, without the need to identify individual wires etc.

Re: I LOVE DESTROYING BMW's!

I agree about trying not to stereotype people by the cars they drive, but I encountered the stereotypical BMW driver on my way home from work last night. On a stretch of single carriageway A road (old A30 eastbound out of Exeter) I was following a learner car and I'd started to get a bit impatient. ...

Re: 0-60

also, looking back.. the vauxhall competitor to the sirerra/escort cossie (160mph, 62 : 6sec) was the calibra 4x4 2.0 turbo, wich has the performance of, yet again a RS Turbo! Where did you get that information from??? [-X I am by no way near a Vauxhall fan but 0-60 in a Calibra Turbo is under 7 se...

Re: radiator guard mesh

I did this a few weeks back: Plastic mesh from Halfrauds at about £22. Only used about half of what was in the pack. Being plastic, I was able to insert it through the slots in front of the radiator and bend it into place. I used cable ties to attach it in 6 places. Overall took me half an hour. Was...

Re: [Mk2 Generic] fuel cap

great, thanks for the part number.

Anyone know if there's a generic part from Halfrauds, as I'll have to pop over to another town to get to Mr T, and Halfrauds is 5 minutes up the road!

Cheers,
Jim

[Mk2 Generic] fuel cap

Got another case of airlock on my fuel filler cap today. I've been advised that it's the cap itself that needs replacing. Is there a generic part that I can get from say halfrauds, or will I need to go to Mr T for a new cap? I've got the original Jap fuel cap, not the UK style narrow neck. Thanks, Jim

Re: ***ing greasy roads

I did similar coming off a roundabout in my first MR2 (1988 MK1) about 9 years ago. Only did 90 degree spin, but ended up sideways in a lamp post at 30MPH. Had been raining, and was a heavy lorry route, so I still believe there was deisel on the road as well as water. I'd had the car for 8 days, and...

Cosmosblue has a UK -> Turbo transplant, but I think it was done professionally, if thats any help?

Is that what you were thinking of, or are you considering slapping a turbo onto the UK engine? I don't believe many do that as there are turbo engines available that make the job much more easy.

Re: Insurance (again!)

what amused me, is that Bell can beat Admiral by so much, even when adding modifications that weren't on the car last year. Oh, and getting married saves me £10 too! lol The thing that worries me is that they call it an "accident" and not a "claim". I wonder if there is a definit...

Insurance (again!)

it's renewal time again, and I've just had a quote back from my insurance company (Admiral) for £434. Last year was around £400 so I thought I'd do some online quotes. In the last 12 months I've taken a standard rev3 t-bar turbo and added rev5 wheels, and a steering wheel / gearknob. I've now been q...
