80w/100w bulbs

Hi Without going into the whole subject of the new style Xenon bulbs (not HID) that claim 30% – 50% brighter, is anyone running std type 80w/100w bulbs? I’ve got a spare set in the garage and was considering dropping them in, due to the extra power questions are: Is the fuse up to it? Is the wiring ...

Re: Front panel behind front bumper rust

Hi Just replaced mine, go to the last few shots on here (page 4) and you will see the bumper bar fitted. http://www.photobox.co.uk/album/880123 If you start the job, expect LOTS of snapping of bolts as there are loads of M6 nuts that may all be well and truly rusted into position. You may want to bu...

Re: exhaust problem part 2

if you are saying where the 4 into 2 manifold joins the 2 pipe exhaust before it goes into 1, there are 2 round gaskets here, £1.50 ish from Mr T, or £1 ish form motor factors. The bolts that hold it on also had flattened ends to prevent them from comming loose, maybe get three new ones if you are w...

Re: New Flexi on Exhaust needed

Cheers Lauren.

JP said the price was £80 + vat, so that’s just shy of the £100 mark, even after I took the exhaust off and delivered it to them.

To be far it seems like a common price, the other couple of places came back at £100 and £120 so they were just the cheapest.

Re: Front bumper Rebuild(revB) Parts Question:Whats this bit for

Cheers Actually the bumper bar was a new one that then had a few coats of Red Oxide, followed by Grey Primer, and finally some Toyota Super Red left over from my old MK2..... Oh, and a final coat of wax oil, figured out that the first one lasted nearly 15 years, this one will last until oil runs out...

Re: Fitting an SC engine lid on an NA?

sure mine had the orginal catch removed (drilled out spot welds) then just a simple bracket to hold the catch, not very pretty but it works - just gets a little close to the intake on the engine. I'll take a piccy tomorrow if you wish. Peter PS - Jon, I've still not fitted the speakers yet or finish...

I'm sure the V pattern will make it directional when you think about the water dispersal requirements, shame, I can not have an s3xy looking spare!!

MK1 – 15” spare wheel tyre choice

Hi I’m going to put some rubber on a spare wheel of mine, I know it’s only a spare and not really that important (except for the size & non rotation), but I would like it to have the following: 195/50 R15 V speed (to match current) Rim protector Obviously it can NOT be rotational being on the sp...

Re: MK1b Radio Wiring diagram (wire colours - head unit)

Cheers, just looked at what you sent and our colours matched up, phew, I wired my radio up correctly.

As I'm sure this is the same for the MK2 you should get your diagram uploaded to the knowledge base as I think others will find it useful.

Re: MK1b Radio Wiring diagram (wire colours - head unit)

If you still have the original Toyota plugs fitted (and not some weird and wacky set up using 2 relays like I did on mine), then just buy a adaptor cable (halfords), it will make life a lot easier and quicker, also helps if you ever have to change back.

Cheers

Re: MK1b Radio Wiring diagram (wire colours - head unit)

As there have been no replies I thought I would post an update to benefit anyone doing searches in the future. Here are the wiring colours of an mk1b radio system. NOTE – I did not trace all these wires back myself, I just used the coding from the cable adaptor I had from my MK2, therefore I accept ...

Re: Just had sump off, think bearings are officially dead!!

Can not see pic's very well.

Was there a silver layer in the oil / sump?

If so you killed off all the soft metal as suggested in the last post, in that case I would also be checking your crank for damage.

Cheers

Peter
