How long is that flexi roughly, Jimi? Might just weld the standard on into the system see if that works to start with.

Re: Exhaust nightmare.

I think the one i have has been tinkered and played with as it dosnt have any form of flexi mechanism at all, and the front pipe looks a standard mk1 pipe, and its mild steel front bit too. Ill post a photograph, but well i need it sorting as im fed up of tightening them every other day and sick of ...

Re: Exhaust nightmare.

Yeah i havent got JP money though Lauren!
I think i have the standard system still, would the standard flexi work, and if so does it matter where it would be welded in?

The only problem is the exhaust has no flexi pipe in, and i presume this is what is causing the problem. Since fitting it though i have bee...

Re: Mk1b restoration... its alive..and painted!!

Is that on 15's Sam? I like how little arch gap there is at the rear!I do like the look of the front bumper too, ive always disliked the black plastic behind where the number plate sits, but cant bring myself to cut it out.

Re: Engine Removal

Ohhh yes that baby is going to be tight. I had to air gun mine off in the car so it didn't wobble about all over the place. d get a few "big" mates to hold i while doing it! The actual pulley will be tight to so some kind of puller needs to be made. If needbe i have a slightly battered spa...

Yeah i was thinking crossover as it has the "triangle" spare wheel, and the funky heater controls which the A had, but then also has side skirts and mudflaps which only the B had.

Re: Incredibly tight head bolts

Headbolts are stretch type, Toyota told me this time last year when i was rebuilding mine. Id check Alex if ARP headbolts are the same torque settings, or if they need a little bit more/less.

Re: Incredibly tight head bolts

When i stripped my engine the gasket didn't come off clean, bits came off, bits were stuck to the block, bits stuck to the head etc. alex's photo looks perfectly fine to me in relation to coolant ports and such.

Re: Incredibly tight head bolts

only things that were not replaced were the pistons and rods themselves. They were cleaned up, and checked for damage which there was none. I suppose if there is no sign of wear on the bearings then that is fine, but then id be careful of them wearing slightly different after the build.

Re: Incredibly tight head bolts

no, im just puzzled at why on a rebuild your not going to replace them, when i was doing mine they were pretty high on the things i wanted to change on a 110k mile engine. Your right with the 86 forum though, lots of awesome info, and driftworks too, if you mind the idiots, sarcastic responses and g...
