Been 10 years since I was on this site

As per heading, today I went to open the drivers door for the first time in 14 years of my mk1. Put fuel in, charged a new battery, but no start. Started with some carb cleaner, cracked the fuel rail, but fuel pump not running. My knowledge on this mark was once good, but 15 years later I cant remem...

In case you haven't seen it

For all you teabag mk1 owners out there, this looks like a viable option for rust prevention!:

Re: understeer

Jeez guys, its a mk1 mr2. Just accept understeer. (with or without arb's) The wheelbase length imo is the biggest problem, which... incidently adds to the aw11's responsive handling or "feedback". This response, is what we enjoy at the compromise of true handling on for say a track. In oth...

Re: understeer

i'm having probs with understeer in the fast long bends is there a solution or a driving technique to help. Driving technique would be: If you are cornering under power = more understeer ease off power (and there is more weight at the front) = less oversteer You can then tinker with toe in/out and ...

Re: Droplinks

Dylbie, Don't get me wrong, the mk1 is a joy to drive and very nimble. But when it lets go there is little warning and even supermans reflexs couldn't get it back. It oversteers, understeers and mine goes into 4 wheel drifts in the wet. I'm sure there are better handling ones out there, but it is app...

Re: Droplinks

Since I got my Integra and my mk1 lies to the side (sick of poo handling ), I haven't been on this site much.

But its great to see that PW and Lauren continue to entertain with a mulder and scully like relationship!

Re: EFI Relay - Immobilising

The fuel pump wires are under and to the fore of the gearstick, (the only wires there IIRC) There is also a positive nearby for the radio. Not to mention somewhere to put your LED.

Properly solder any connections rather than crimp or splice. Not funny dying on the fastlane of a motorway

sw20 v integra type r

Haven't been on this site for ages, I still have a mk1b. but lately I was thinking of a change of my daily integra which I occasionally track to a sw20 turbo. I have never seen any on track while I',m on it and am curious as to how they would compare. Power is obviously up, but I don't think they wo...

I drilled out my downpipe with 10.2mm bit, and re-tapped for m12 1.75 thread. No more leaks!!

The originals are a weedy size imo

They tend to never kick in

All the long piping and high coolant volume seem to add to the cooling effect.

mpg combined

Does anyone know how to work out the combined mpg from the following data: Simulated urban driving: 42.8 mpg At constant speed of 56mph: 67.3 mpg At constant speed of 75 mph: 48.7 mpg I reckon its the average of all 3? or am I missing something? I got this info from an official Toyota manual for a d...

Re: Where does this pipe connect to?

Variable idle control. that solenoid opens to bypass air into the tb to raise the idle. Usually when extra electrical items are in use. one end goes to the throttle body(tb) the other to the filtered side of airbox, there is a pipe sticking out if you look close enough, its low down beside the reson...

Re: Help - My MK1A brakes are driving me nuts

I recently fitted motor factor pads to my bro's mk1a, they simply would not fit into the carriers

I had to take a hand file and take off 1-2 mm then fit them. Otherwise they would have been wedged in :-s

Re: Sheared Bolt in Coolant Pipe

Perhaps its not the threads that seal but the bolt head? Did it have a gasket on it? as the epc looks like there is one! http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_E_1988_TOYOTA_MR2_AW11R-WCMQFQ_1603.2.html Personally, I would never touch these but many buy the red haynes and follow it to the word.
