wet track day

Had my first track day in the wet. Good grief, it was twitching on the pace car lap  When I finally got out, it was so difficult to keep straight, is it just me or these cars? little understeer granted, but constant oversteer. Tyres are ok and I tried lower pressure but OMG what a disaster, o...

Re: steering wobble

Just an update.

Removed both front wheels, removed calipers and checked... all ok.

removed rotors and replace them 90 deg on again.

Bolt everything back up and all is ok...?????????????????????????

I think when the wheels were balanced last a peice of dirt got in behind the rotor and hub?

Re: Steamy windscreen

I find this happens regularly to me, especially leaving the gym with wet hair.

Its just humidity Vs cold windscreen.

Just open the window or sunroof if you have one.

If in the unlikely event it is the matrix, there is a quick way to change it.

Re: potential newbie with Q's

Thanks for replies,

my Honda is a DB8 so a 4 door with 180bhp vtec, minus the R suspension. Still a good handling motor.

How much would it cost to fit a mk2 with half decent dampers and springs to make it handle better?

And what wheel size works best?

potential newbie with Q's

Hi, have been on this forum for some time in the mk1 section. But am thinking of moving to the dark side. I have a few questions for you regular boffins. I am looking soon at a 95 (rev 3?) turbo, anything I should check apart from the obvious or already mentioned on buyers guide? I already have an 9...

Re: steering wobble

I checked the calipers yesterday and they are not sticking, braking is good but slight judder when braking from 70+, again this is when it is shaking anyway.

I have put the free poly mounts in about 2 months ago, could these have put more strain on other bushes?

steering wobble

Doing my head in, I have had the wheels balanced twice, proper 4 wheel alignment, and checked drop links and associated nuts/bolts for play.

Still have a wobble that creeps in at 70mph, I also checked tyres for fitting and bulges etc. Even used torque wrench to tighten lugs...

anything I missed?

Or get all clear ones and fit orange indicator bulbs.

They are the same as a camry of the same era.

Its also worth changing the o rings on the injectors at the same time.

Into the fuel rail yes, an O ring, but it could be the other lower connection which is of a metal conical nature?

Just a thought

Re: Brake Calipers

The rear screw out.

Not totally sure about front, but IIRC you will need hydralic pressure to push them out. Have you a bicycle tyre pump and fittings? or could you connect temp to your car? Or make a connector and use a petrol stations air line??

Re: Desperate after 3 months of none starter !!!!!!!

find immobiliser, if its got a key hole in it, drill it out and use a screwdriver to switch it off.

As you say, only happened when battery removed.

Does this make sense?

Re: Strut Braces

I have access to data loggers (vernier), and using various sensors could monitor flex between these strut points on my vehicle. (pressure or sonic).

How the difference, if any, translates to handling is someone else's job if one doesn't notice!

Anyone want me to log it ?

Re: Desperate after 3 months of none starter !!!!!!!

its not enough to check spark at HT. you need to follow the route, i.e. check plugs, also it could be a faulty adjusted/damp distributor. I would put the base of a long screwdriver to my ear, with the other end on the injectors and listen for clicking on all 4 when cranked. Most likely the battery y...

Re: Mystery front end rattle?

recently had similar problem, changed the front control bushs for the "free" two's or us poly ones, the old ones were well gone, so far gone that the tube had rusted through.

Easy to change too, even for a novice
