Re: 2nd gear synchro rings..........easy ???

A second hand box is a fine idea if the seller can guarantee its condition. One with sound synchros that doesn't drop out of 5th is worth a reasonable sum but one with either of these faults is worth nothing IMO.

Lauren, you have your share of responsibilty for escalating this in a manner that I myself don't judge as appropriate conduct from a committee member/moderator.This should never have been reduced to a childish slanging match...perhaps other moderators should have stepped in and stopped it. I'm not s...

Re: replacement front shocks

Just a little addage to this thread... I've just swapped out my old suspension for new Toyota parts (the new 'complete assembly' versions that can't be stripped down) and a set of Apex lowering springs. The ride quality is excellent for everyday use and the lowering has really added great feel to t...

No,no special tool needed just use an appropiate sized socket and extension. While you have got the bellhousing removed clean it internally and lubricate all the release arm pivot points.

Re: Paint shrinkage....Advice Required...Help

It wasn't me who advised you because I only use cellulose, not 2pack,as you seem to have used.
The only thing that occurs to me from what you said is if you used celly primer to which you added 2 pack basecoat to tint it, is that this is the cause of your problems,i.e.mixing two incompatible liquids.

For what they cost (£30-£40 each) replace all 4 with 50 profile.Do a search for the 'best' as this as already been discussed on here at great length!!!

Re: Minty Mk1 on eBay... worth a look (Hertfordshire)

[quote="Sharpfish"]This was the one I was referring to in my thread yesterday (the one with wonky odometer digits and the STRIPE MISSING hence not 'totally original' as stated). I wouldn't worry about the 'wonky odometer digits',in my experience this just happens on old cars. If the mileag...

Re: Touching up with aerosol

Paul, let's first establish we are giving advice to the home sprayer here. For pro use with pro facitities I agree 2 pack is best.Of course celly is toxic, but we are talking far greater risks with 2 pack and you must be aware that professionals use air fed masks in spray booths with constantly changi...

Re: Touching up with aerosol

john im not sure why you are so hung up on the toxicity side of things? all paint fumes are bad for you no matter what, its a given that you take adequate precautions when applying any type of paint. 2k offers the best finish and the best protection in my professional opinion as a time served spraye...

Re: Touching up with aerosol

Compared to spraying a flat colour,a metallic is not all that more difficult.Matching is a problem, but obviously not with a complete respray. The technique differs in that you must ensure an even distribution of the metallic particles. It goes without saying that you must thoroughly mix the paint and...

Re: Touching up with aerosol

.W is referring to '2 pack' paint which has great durability and other attributes but presents various problems to the home sprayer, the main one being that it is highly toxic and should only be used with an air fed mask,it is also being phased out because of its toxicity and is probably actually il...

So why don't you try moving up to the next stage and get yourself a compressor and spray kit, they are so cheap now (and you can do many other things with them as well as paint).

Re: Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 no longer made for R14 Wheels??????

Anyone know if you can still get Toyo PROXES T1-R is size 14? Since there similar tread pattern to the Eagle F1's on the front. I think you can,but not in 185/60 but in 195/55.I had these on standard 1b alloys and they looked right, had similar rolling radius, and I could not detect any loss of handl...

Compressors and spray kits are so cheap now that IMO there is no reason to have to resort to rattle cans or brushes.
Powder coating?...I had a car with a powder coated chassis some years ago and it soon flaked off in several places.

IMO that's too far gone, unless you're a fabricator/ welder to top professional standards. Also,Iwould be surprised if the inner/outer sills,A and B posts and other areas at the front are not bad. Sorry, but you need to scrap it,save the best parts, benefit from the knowledge you've gained and then go a...
