[Mk2 Turbo] Bits in oil.. :(

Just done an oil change on my rev 3 tubby - and found bits in the old oil. :( Looks like grit, but I guess its metal..... :( Mostly small, fine bits, but a few largish chunks that are noticable bigger - about the same as sugar granules or slightly larger, as a comparison. I guess this doesn't sound ...

Performance Cats

Hi,

My tubby is just outside of the time zone which allows you to decat it without any mot issues.

Was thinking about a performance cat. Anybody on here got one fitted? How much did it cost, how hard to fit and did it make any noticable improvements?

Thanks.

Re: attention from other drivers

...and heres a good one. A few months back, a mate at work asked if I wanted to pop along to a car meet he was attending at a local venue. He arrived at my house in his car (a nissan 200sx at the time), and his mate who brought his nissan along.... ....so I went along in my car in a nice 3 car convo...

Re: attention from other drivers

A few other times spring to mind too - had a young lad who lives in the estate stop when he saw me out cleaning may car. He was a bit suprised when I popped the bonnet and he saw the spare wheel in there... ;) He started asking about where the engine is (as I had the boot open as well ;) ) so I show...

Re: attention from other drivers

I had the best 'notice' from a pedestrian ever today. Driving through a little village near me, so am only pootling along at <30mph, when I pass this woman and her young son on the pavement. The kid can't have been more than 5 years old, and as I drove past him with the top down and exhaust rumblin...

Black mk2 mr2 on recovery wagon in bridgend

Hi, Saw a nice looking black mrk2 mr2 one of those those stumpy recovery wagons that have a carrier for the front wheels only, going through the junction by the new bingo yesterday in bridgend around 1pm.. anybody on here? Think I recognised it from a picture on here as it had fairly distinctive (an...

Re: attention from other drivers

Yup - I get that a lot too. Especially from youngsters too - in a good way that is before you ask! They often stare and wave if I'm following the car they're in, or rubber neck when they go past at junctions, roundabouts and the like. At least they are the ones that generally say "nice car mate...

Re: Engine Prob :(

If you are having problems at idle and when its been stood for a bit, but "ok" when driving, it sounds like you have most likely have a head gasket/head crack issue - as in theory, at idle everything is not moving as rapidly as at speed so it allows more seepage/contamination, or at least ...

Re: PLEASE Help me decide, rev3 turbo or engine transplant

I bought a rev 3 n/a that has had a turbo engine transplant. Luckily this had been done before I bought it so it was not a huge outlay for me in transplant costs.. ;) A few observations though, from running it for 2 years. Getting parts for the engine etc can be a pain at times - places like mr t te...

Re: Top mounts - rev 2/3

Well, think I may have answered my own question (again ;) )... Found my copy of an old online EPC for rev 3's onwards, and when I check the part details for the topmount, it has a date of "01.11.1993 - 01.08.1999" - which I believe is the cutover point for rev 3 onwards....? ...so it looks...

Top mounts - rev 2/3

Hi,

Anybody know if there is a difference between rev 2 and rev 3 front top suspension mounts, and if so, what?

I know the rears are the same... :D

Regards,

- Ian.

Erm - don't the drop links attach to the shocks too? You'll have to take those off as well to remove the strut... ;)

Re: [Mk2 Generic] Uneven tyre wear?

I am well aware that I should - actually getting it done is a different matter. Not that many wheel alignment places around here, let alone a laser equiped one, and especially one that knows mr2's... I have asked about laser alignment places in the past (preferably one who knows mr2's, and was even ...

[Mk2 Generic] Uneven tyre wear?

Hi, My car has had uprated (bilstein sport) shocks and eibach -30mm springs fitted, with trd top mounts. Been meaning to get the wheel alignment checked afterwards but have been having problems finding a decent wheel alignment place around here.... ..anyhow, on checking my front wheels/tyres tonight...

Well, bit late for a christmas pressie buts its my birthday in a couple of months... :) Whats the verdict so far on the wrc CT20b turbo then? I still have a cat but have a mongoose exhaust fitted, spearco ic - would that reduce the spool time of this wrc ct20b to more "normal" levels? Also...

Just out of curiosity - how much do you recon your V6 conversion cost you?

I've a uk n/a with a tubby conversion, and was just wondering whether I should get the turbo replaced when it goes or do something a little different and get a v6 in there... :D

Re: [Mk2 Generic] Volk racing TE37 wheels - Centre Caps?

All I have to do now is find a suitable Rays dealer. ;) I have found a states side site which actually has them listed, and in bronze too, but it states its for 17-19" alloys only?? :(

[Mk2 Generic] Volk racing TE37 wheels - Centre Caps?

Hi,

Looking into getting a car with some 16" Volk racing alloys (in bronze ) and they don't have any centre caps. Reading around it seems to be a case of either there were never any, or they are optional?

Anybody know if there any centres available, and from where?

Thanks.

Ian.

Hmm... sounds interesting... :)

I wonder if Dino has any pics/info that I could use to get the same parts. ;)

Guess I had better start looking into this further then. Where about are Hayward & Scott based - pretty far from south wales more than likely.. ;)
