Ahh the 288 GTO, worth selling a kidney or two for. By the by Ferrari sold a performance kit for the F40, bigger turbos and 678bhp

It wouldn't hold up against a tubbie, 174bhp standard, 0-60 mid 6's top about 145 ,but a fabulous engine in it's own right.

Yes there i was a noise increase, but I reckon your exhaust would defeat it anyway. The AFM is the pain, no matter how freeflow you go before the unit, it's all restricted as it goes through the AFM .

Re: [Mk2 NA] my 3sfe stutters around 3000RPM
IMHO you are better off with an aftermarket panel filter. You need to get maximum cold air into the engine and you really need to retain the resonator box (big black lump upper left hand side) to take advantage of the low end torque. An induction kit will sound louder but you'll lose power I know, I...

Give yourself some time, took me ages to bleed all the air out, not too difficult. Check up regularly as per BGB.

Any Jap car breakers round your way, it'll be a lot cheaper.

I would say so, my FE's dissy cap was seriously corroded inside when I bought it. Give it a good overhaul. Start with new NGK's BKR6EYA-11, 'bout £12 at Halfords. New cap and rotor arm from Toyota (£35ish if I recall). Check your timing, the dissy bolt was missing on mine, and some other people have...

Re: This is debatable, air induction kits
. I read a good article in an Australian fast four mag like 3 years ago where the dyno tested a car with a mixture of different resonators, even used a coke bottle in one test & nothing at all. All on the same car etc. the left the OEM setup all bar the resonator and the OEM one came out with t...

Yep, never fool for the " diesel". My VW Shalambraxy, 2.8 VR6, 174bhp/174 lb/ft. Fully loaded at 2.5 tonnes, it'll still cruise at 120 all day, mind you it needs the length of Essex to stop!

Re: what gas to recharge my air con???
You're 'mate' can only fill R134a, or face some serious penalties for even storing the older gases. He can check the fill valves to see if will straight fill; if it's an older system I undestand the valves can be changed easily, R134a and an additive will then go okay.

Re: [Mk2 NA] Urgent Intake Manifold.
I can't see the benefit even if it does fit, the intake system on the FE is designed to maximise the avaliable torque (the best thing we've got, forget bhp!); you'll still be stuck with the FE head.

That's the fastest one. Top speed varied considerably as each engine was handbuilt and set up. Lamborghini testers hit genuine 190's at Nardo test track. There's quicker stuff out there but this came out in 1989! Also it don't stop accelerating till it hit's the top. If you tried to seriously race i...

Re: [Mk2 NA] sorry guys, need a peace of mind bump
Main dealer servicing will always be poor. If you look at the Toyota service schedule 90% of the work is 'visual inspection' e.g. distributor. This means an external check for cracks, same with plugs, hoses, brakes etc. Nothing is removed or unbolted. The hundreds of pound you pay are labour charges...

Everything you need, never go to a main dealer, they're on commision to drum up extra work.

Take it off, early cars didn't have it. Sound insulation, and keeps your engine nice and warm (which is not nice).

You need to gently prise off the small side triangles with a screwdriver and some cloth to protect the plastic, inser it between the back of the triangle and the main lamp cluster and it will spring out. You'll find two screws under there and one on top of the lamp cluster under the bootlid. It shou...

Me neither, seen a few over the years parked in the paddocks at race meetings. I've seen a few motors open the throttle over the years and there's Jap stuff out there that would take off quicker; but the presence is incredible. As this guy went down the carriageway everyone moved over, I'm talking c...

Followed this onto A130 south from Howe Green, now usually you think 'Mmm love to see that go etc....' but they always slot into the inside lane and cruise at 50. Not today, full throttle and off it goes like a demented banshee (but no whistles :D ), awesome noise, like standing behind Concorde, you...

I'm not looking to argue after all I'm advocating a system folks can't buy into, whereas any trackwork to understand your car is always going to be of benefit. Unfortunately accidents will occur with emergency vehicles whatever the driving technique due to the unique circumstances they are driven un...
