Re: Help Re-tensioning.

I pushed it down to the floor as far as I could as I had seen the damage it can cause to the belt if it touches. It still sits very close. I found that to get the right clearance to the pulley the tensioner was to high and would foul the belt. Did the belt about 8k miles ago in January last year and...

Re: Help Re-tensioning.

I know where your coming from, when I did my belt I took the old belt off and it was nearly in 2 halves as the previous mechanic had not put the tensioner in the right place and it was rubbing on the belt. Cam cover was full of rubber strands. I just made sure the tensioner was sufficiently clear, h...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Will this CT20 be ok for a tubby?

if youre in that price range why not go for a chinese ball bearing one?, i have seen people get results on those...... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GT28-T28-GT2871-TURBO-CHARGER-turbocharger-s13-s14-new-/250844505344?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a677f6500 I have been looking at these and...

Re: UNBELIEVABLE! MY MR2 IS CURSED!!!

took 7 months for me to get my mr2 rev2 turbo fixed when I bought it, losing interest the whole time having only ever driven it to pick it up but it had a faulty alternator which turned out to be a wiring fault and I replaced the cam belt and shimmed up the tappets. Love it now and even though I hav...

Re: 3SGTE gearbox oil leak

Is this really an easy fix? When I had my 2 up in the air to look at the alternator I saw the gearbox seal leaking but it looked like I would have to remove a heck of a lot of stuff to get the intermediate shaft off to change it.

Is there a guide anywhere?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] whats new in the way of chargecooler setups??

The core fits well but the pipes from the turbo look better in the pictures than in reality. Its one 2 inch 90 degree bend coupled to a 2-3 inch converter which is also a 90 degree bend. They will both need to be much shorter which means the coupler might not fit but somehow it has to! I was thinkin...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] whats new in the way of chargecooler setups??

Last job of today, got an inlet temp sensor fitted. I have a Megasquirt in the boot, going to run it as a parralell setup with fuel and boost on the squirt and ignition and idle air control on the stock ECU. Its only connected to monitor at the moment so I can datalog the inlet temps with the stock ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] whats new in the way of chargecooler setups??

Pictures of mine. Not going to be a bad fit I dont think, the option is there to move it over to where the AFM is once I have that removed or relocated (with my celica N/A side feed). Just ad the extra tax to the price, VAT on anything under £135 (not including shipping) and then 4.5% duty AND VAT on anything over £135. My Frozen boost order (core plus a few fittings) is sitting with Parcel force as we speak, got a bill of £42 through today got to pay online before delivery. My o...

Re: Legal advice - NEW DEVELOPMENTS - Further Update!

I was once trying to pursue a small claim against someone in Scotland for a bodykit that arrived compleatly different to described. The only thing I learned is that small claims are one of the things where scotish law is different to English law (in the favour of the Scots to my disadvantage). Pleas...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Alternator failed because of oil leak, how best to resolve, ideas please!

I had the exact problem highlighted above, the black/yellow wire was shot, I ran a new one in and at first cut the old one but then the speedo stopped working as that picks up from the yellow and black aswell so I re connected it. I swapped the alternator twice, once for an old N/A one I had and the...

Re: High fuel consumption, is my lambda on its way out?

Isnt it an Exhaust Gas Temperature sensor on the rev 1 and 2 not a Lambda? Mine has only 1 wire like yours and as far as I am aware its just there to measure EGT and put the ECU in low boost mode if it goes to high. Like you I only get 120 miles to a tank most times, 200 on a run. I had mine on the...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Revision 3 Inlet Manifolds

Gutting it will just make it open all the time, it would work I guess. You will end up with the plenum top of the engine not behind it like with a Caldina manifold. It will weigh a lot more than the turbo one as its 50% bigger and with the 2 linked plenums you will end up with after gutting the ACIS...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Revision 3 Inlet Manifolds

Not from experience but the rev 3s have ACIS on the N/A which is no use on a turbo. You need a caldina manifold for best results.

Read up a lot looking for a side feed for my rev 2 and mr2 N/A inlets have ACIS aswell but the early celicas got TVIS.

Re: Giving the 3SGE another 2000rpm...

Carbs would sound amazing but what with the GE having the injectors fitted to the head not the inlet getting ITB's to work should be childs play. On the original subject, didnt the later GE's have 170bhp anyhow? I would have thought 100bhp/litre would be easy to hit with the size of the inlet ports ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] How easy is it to swap speakers for after market ones

I bought a cheap set of carpeted MDF boxes off ebay and put them behind each seat, only tempory until I take the door cards off and fit something better. As the wiring is tempory I tucked it under the plastic cover of the centre console, then with the dash trim off you can pull it up behind the ash ...

MR2 is dual sensor trigger, 1 with 24 teath none missing and the other with one tooth, both running at cam speed. Heard horror stories about noise on the standard triggers though but I dont know if this was with a modified 24 tooth (i.e one filed off) or dual VR sensors which I dont think you can do...

Re: Giving the 3SGE another 2000rpm...

There is no reason you cant keep the factory ECU doing the ignition and fit a piggy back for mapping, I beleive with a Dastek the issues with rev limit are gone but the much cheaper ICON unit is a timing only device and you can get hold of the software to uplaod different maps yourself. Of course yo...
