Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] is it possible to time 180 out

As there is only a sensor in the distributor I would guess thats whats out. Crank can be out aswell but that wont stop it firing the injectors. I once timed an inlet cam 180 out on a car with 2 inlet cams and 1 exhaust. As the other inlet cam (for pistons 3 and 4) was ok it ran on 2 cylinders and th...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] my Monster Chargecooler build! FINISHED!!

Interestingly I have a smaller 600bhp core but a bigger ST205 rad. how thick is the st205 rad tho? this rad is 2inchs thick. Very true, considerably thinner I think its under an inch (25mm at the end caps probably, thinner core). I wish I had seen that rad on frozen boost before I finalised my orde...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] my Monster Chargecooler build! FINISHED!!

I am hoping to get 5 to connect my IAT sensor up this weekend, its supposed to be an uprated version of the stock item (i.e its got the same calibration but is not Toyota). Got it going to a megasquirt so I can log boost against inlet on a stock Rev2 for comparison to when I get my CC installed and ...

Re: itb on a mr2 turbo

Traditionally ITB's are not used on Turbos since the gain per £ is so small compared to N/A tunning but it has been done, the Reyland Escort Cosworth has them and 701 bhp street drivable from a 2.3 but this is the most extream car of its kind and has cost the owner tens of thousands (he let on that ...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Anyone used / have an Exhaust Control Valve?

They block the exhaust but you have to 'T' it off before the valve, run one side through a silencer and then the other through the valve and straight out so when the valve is open you get less silencing. These are factory fit on most modern cars to help warm up times. MGTF has one which is why only ...

Re: What revision is my engine?

I bought a rev 1 turbo engine for spares, it does indeed have 7 studs and the manifold has 7 hoels but the head has the extra holes for the extra 2 studs so I cant see why a 9 stud exhaust manifold wont fit a 7 stud head?

Sounds about right, I get 150 to a tank round town and its £45-£50 to fill up.

Re: Are Rev1 n/a imports worth anything?

Yeah I paid £700 for mine and had spent that again before even getting it on the road, cam belt, tappets, alternator, cancer bars, weak actuator spring meaning 5 PSI boost, knackered thermostat meaning it only ever made it off warm up boost for minutes at a time after a long drive in slow moving tra...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Supra rear lights

What a Bondo Bucket, Shmooved in bodykits are for chavs its to cover up badly fitting parts. Costly should you scrape it. I like the lights but not the big gap above them and they dont look as good as the rev 3+ lights so whats the point.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Where is the best place to get valve shims from?

I've got 6 from when I set my tappets up, moved all the others round so only needed 6 that were bigger than any I had but they were £6 each. Toyota only, not worth getting a machine shop to make them at that price. I've also got a spare head in bits, list the sizes you need. Maybe we should start a ...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] conversion of 1990 MK2 NA to Turbo - is it worth it?

unfortunately not many turbos available here. also engine swaps not possible here in mumbai. will have to do with upgrade only. Although rebuilding an N/A car as a turbo will be harder you will get a very good performance increase. Go straight for the aftermarket ECU and forged pistons and you'll b...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] After what date is CAT needed - Just failed MOT :(

Just rang and spoke to the manager after getting of the phone to VOSA. He agreed the tester was at fault. The 3 things it failed on -- 1 Exhaust part missing (no cat) 2 No emissions test done (due to no cat) 3 No rear fog. And they were WRONG on all 3 counts! I have quad rears with the inner 2 wire...

Re: special message for whoever just drove into me without stopping...

I had a driver hit me up the rear then drive round me and speed off the wrong way down a one way street. If you cant provide a full reg number within 24 hours then they will take no further action, I had a partial reg and full description of the car its color, damage and location within minutes but ...

It does seem that there is a fair amount of people saying there fine...It must be said though, that "yeah...had it on for 18 months and it's fine" isn't 15 years plus like some, if not most, of the stock Toyota blowers. Personally...I'm gonna source something thats been proven to be durab...

How bad can they be? They have good manufacturing processes in China and a lot of stuff we all use every day is made there the products are cheap because they steal other people RnD and use cheap labour. To play devils advocate, China doesnt quite understand engineering. They can copy items very we...
