Re: [Mk2] DIY Guide to Spraying & Fitting Aftermarket Side Skirts
PREPARING TO LACQUER 13. Go over skirts lightly with 1200 wet & dry until paint has a matt finish (not shiny) This going over the paint with 1200 wet & dry - is this used wet or dry??? That would be wet but looking at your car you have a metalic finish, you dont do any sanding between paint...

Re: cams
put a set of damaged cams in an engine and take the risk? i cant imagine it would last overly long depends how long you want it to last, the marks will transfer onto the bearing races in the head so you will not use another set of cams in the head again but they could do 20k without issue, that wou...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 272's again
You can tell they are not damaged on the outside from them pics?? You ever worked on old cars with worn cams? They rattle suprisingly enough. :) You can tell they are? I am advising to check and use if ok, they wont rattle if the journals are within tolerance for the full radius of the cam as long ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 272's again
Yeah. Fit them. Rattling cams in a high performance engine is not an issue. What is the worse that can happen? The oil pressure is not held correctly causing more head damage? The oil pressure is not held correctly and the turbo starves of oil? Nice rattly engine? Inconsistant valve clearances? Go ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 272's again
I'd be tempted to use them as they are, the scoring looks to be around the centre so you should still get a bearing seal at the sides, this will make oil pressure and lubricate the cam, it has 4 other bearings on it so its not as critical as a crank. I would not touch it with emery paper, just use a...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Holsett HX35 or Borg Warner S366
Heres the new HX35 equivelent. Dont think its designed for a diesel and water cooling is not needed if you run the car properly. For a Sunday car like mine its not something I'd pay extra for. http://www.compressorracing.com/our-turbos.html EDIT:- just noticed its the same one, they (He) offers a ch...

Re: need a place to order spray paint.
Nu Agane paints on ebay are pretty good. Where are you based as there are a number of specialist paint shops that will mix the paint after color matching it with a big chip as even paint codes can be out sometomes (different years of the same code and even different production lines have slight vari...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Holsett HX35 or Borg Warner S366
I starte to search here and google in general for the holset turbo on an MR2 and it seams its not been done before or not often. I beleive its no longer in production but production rights have been bought by another company who continue to manufacture it. A divided T3 flange and twin scroll housing...

Re: inconsistant boost
Rev 2 will also switch boost from 7 - 10 psi depending on a number of factors, I found mine could never make up its mind and kept dropping down to 7 all the time even after I got all the engine lights off and changed the stat to stop the extra cold running (old stat opened at 60 degrees and boost wi...

Re: Rev 2 thermostat housing......
Its supposed to be blocked off.
I have temporarily fitted my temperature sensor there as I broke the standard one with half of it still stuck in the housing.
It takes a long time to show the engines warmed up as it wont register until the thermostat is open.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)

Re: [Mk2] [NA] N00B questions!
There are some cheap after market cruise control kits, Air con would be a nightmare, there are a lot of parts and then the electronic control aswell as you need water temperature sensors (air con turns off if the engine is running to hot), air temperature sensors (air con turns off if the outside ai...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] help! all dash lights on all the time on MR2 auto 1991
Yeah I have seen this on an MR2 with a bust alternator, or more specifically the voltage regulator on the alternator, it causes a lot of AC charge to enter the cars circuits and makes all the lights come on as they all work on AS as well as DC. I cant advise driving the car like it though as you nev...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] greddy oil pressure
Thats what the wire is for but if you want it to light up all the time connect the wire to the ignition feed.
My guages are tinted so have to light up all the time and only have an ignition feed.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] greddy oil pressure
It doesnt say parking brake it says parking light, this is another term for sidelights so you need to connect it to the side lights so it iluminates when you have your lights on.
I beleive there is a wire at the cigerette lighter that illuminates the surround with the lights on.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Fitting oil temp and pressure gauge...sensor where?
I have to say I would be tempted with the sandwich plate, I have spent a lot of time and money getting the bits together to do it the other way and its a pain. The T peice needs an extention as it wont fit without, this then gives you 2 ports one for the sensor and one for the standard pressure swit...

Intake Air temperature Question
Ok, went out for the first time yesterday with the laptop looking at the air temperature, hotest day in November but still only 18 degrees out. As the car warmed up stationary the temperature of the intake air rose steadily from 21 degrees to 56. When I went for a drive it would come down to about 4...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Reducing the noise from Exhaust and Decat
I have found on other cars that gutted cats make a horrible noise since they are not designed to be that way, it can make the car sound very poorley. I have a decat and mongoose ready to go on mine and am currently loving the stock sound as like you say is quick but quiet so its even more of a supri...

My sensor is for a megasquirt ECU not a guage so it had to be the right one.

Re: Aircon idle valve ~ inlet temp sesnor
This is whats in the throttle body I'm sure, along with a fuel injector in the manifold.
I have a rev 2 and do have those pipes but they were not big enough for a proper air temp sensor for my ECU.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
