Re: Interesting eBay Ferrari

I've seen this kit before and it was one of the really early ones. It was not sold as a replica kit but a Ferrari style bumper kit. The trailer lights are custom and ruin the car compleatly.

The guy sounds like a total tit, I'm glad he wasted his time and money. If I were the seller I'd be fuming at this ad.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Rev 1 suspension - lowering springs?

I've got GMax springs in my MR2 which were on my Rev1 N/A (UK) and then I took the whole lot over on to my Rev2 and now my TRD Rev2 so UK spec dampers on all. I have to say on the standard 14's the ride was perfect but when I went to 17's thats when it got firm. I am now running the lowest permitabl...

I'm guessing it involves a 2 post ramp. I'd spend longer than 25 minutes jacking the car up to the height needed to get the engine out from under it!

Re: Bodyshop people....

Thats the worst set I have seen. Its obvious that they have had filler on them in the past which has led to them becoming even worse before beiong noticed. I can weld myself but I would be hard pressed to justify keeping that shell if another was availaible and I had no ties to this one. Price to fi...

Re: Wiseco pistons + Cometic 1mm + std. rods

I dont know enough to say 'no' but its not a fundimental change like it is with the Rev3 setup. Rev1 and Rev2 engines are built the same and have the same power with the same type of injection by there may exist minor changes between ECU's.

Re: Wiseco pistons + Cometic 1mm + std. rods

if that was my goal I'd be swapping to rev3 ecu etc on a stock block and call it a day. In fact I'd probably stick to the rev2 ECU.

Re: ODB or ODBII

Depending on what you want it for I have a megasquirt currenlty fitted in parallel to the stock ECU and I am using Android as a digital dash. The MS is only doing boost control at the moment but its connected to the wideband, water temp, air temp, RPM, throttle position, vacuum/boost and a couple of...

Re: Best results from a home respray?

I dont know about which gun is better. I have had and used both and they both sprayed the same. I think there is less wastage from a gravity fed gun and it will spray at more angles. Yes I only use 5 coats as the laqure I use and the expereince I have tends to leave quite a mottled finish so with 5 ...

Re: Best results from a home respray?

I dont know how cold it gets in there but the effects of painting cold paint or onto cold panels is paint blooming where the paint gathers up into blotches after its painted. If it goes below about 15 degrees when the paint is curing it will extend the curing process as it wont cure below 15ish. I h...

Re: Best results from a home respray?

I would only spray the door but thats because I get my paint colour matched. If you are just using paint supplied from the paint code then yes you have to gradually phase the colour in by spraying into the adjacent panels. I painted the door of my first MR2 which was red, we all know what that goes ...

Re: Best results from a home respray?

1k is less hard wearing yes, its also just acrylic based and has no acticvator like 2k or 2 pak. It cures the same way as the base coat by just letting the solvents out. My estimate of paint required was for painting only the outside of the boot and not the inside. If you buy a boot lid of a differe...

Re: Best results from a home respray?

I'd say half a litre of base for each will be more than enough, I'd be tempted with half a litre to do both but you really will be on the limit and would not have enough to do it in 2 seperate goes. Two and a half coats should cover it, the half goes on first, 1 very thin coat you can see straight t...

Re: Best results from a home respray?

Regarding a dull finish on metalics just remember to do nothing to the base coat before applying laqure. No sanding no nothing. Metalics are designed to have an already keyed surface that you can just laqure straight onto. If its a very rough surface you can give it 2-3 coats of laqure then sand fla...

Re: Best results from a home respray?

Its all the the prep work and patience. Many will argue otherwise but it is possible to get a factory finish from rattle cans with the right prep and enough patience. I have seen a car painted with a roller that looked spot on but it took hours of machine colour sanding. I have personally sprayed fl...

Re: respray-but what colour??

My white TRD car is a 202 black car and you just dont notice that the frunk and engine bay are black. It might be different for red and other colour cars but with black you can go any colour I would say.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Charge Cooler Alternative Radiator Location

you should be able to fit the charge cooler rad just removing the plastic trim from above the radiator and removing the undertrays but it will be a lot more fiddly This sounds promising. Does the coolant rad come out throught the top? I have seen the hole with the plastic cover removed but it looke...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Charge Cooler Alternative Radiator Location

Nah the whole kit is one piece now. I was thinking more along the lines of maybe under the boot floor or in the boot or something. Dont want to have to modify the outside of the car but I could do a new bonnet without to much trouble, could it go in the frunk with ducting from under the car and out ...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Charge Cooler Alternative Radiator Location

Basically as my TRD car has had the bodykit shmooved on I cant remove the front bumper to fit the charge cooler rad so what are my options? Is it worth tryig to fit the rad in the stock intercooler location? I know airflow will be no better but it must take longer for all the fluid in a chage cooler...

They ask for a deposit before you view the car, sometimes only small but if they do it to enough people it works out pretty big for them.
