Max Power TRD Rescue
Right, after trying to build an MR2 with a body kit for nigh on 10 years the missus and I decided to just buy one. This was whilst on holiday in France at my parents house which is well stocked with wine and in the middle of nowhere. This is unfortunatly the car we bid on and although we didnt win t...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Driveshaft and CV joint differences
Right I have recently aquired a new MR2 turbo to replace the one I have had in the garage in bits for 18 months. I was looking round it today and both the inner CV gaitors were split so I swapped the driveshafts from my other MR2 (they were almost off anyhow). Both cars have an e153 box and LSD alth...

Its a custom finish, you wont find a paint code. Try to google rage paints or nu agane who do the Rover Monogram colours much cheaper than rage.

Re: Red to Yellow
Rear quater windows are sealed with green house mastic, its like a rubber beading that comes on a roll. I found some in black but its sometimes grey. Take the windoe out and apply more to seal.

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Matching Speedo and speed sensor
I had one that underread a lot. I took the needle off and put it back reading what it should do using a satnav on a private road :/ Do all speed sensors give out the same number of pulses per revolution of the wheels? If not then this method is only good for the correct speedo that is under/over re...

Re: how it look on mr2 good or to big ?
I just bought an MR2 with one just like this. I have to say I thought it would look stupid but after following the car home for 100 miles (the wife wanted to drive it) it has really grown on me. 70 inches wide it is, the same as I am tall! The best bit about the height it that it does not obscure th...

For that price I'd take one and wait as long as it took.

Re: yellow front fogs......
My Rev 1 UK N/A had yellow fog lights, I am pretty sure they were standard as the wife bought it when it was just 10 years old and totally standard.
Could never work out if they were fog lights or driving lights, the plod did not like you driving round with them on.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] ACIS Spacer
Nice, I wonder if the plastic item and its resulting noise was what made it feel quicker. A lot of air filters make cars feel like rocket ships but net very small or even negative results on their own.

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Big Brake Kit
Could a standard caliper be retained and ad an additional calliper aswell? There have been twin calliper setups in the past on the front of cars, usually matching pairs though. The standard calliper could be used for handbrake only easily enough. You'd just have to make sure that both callipers were...

Re: Stock Airbox vs Aftermarket Induction Kit
I've seen a few non MR2 very professional turbo builds with a less than optimally placed cone filter. The defence is normally that on such a car the air intake temperature is less critical than the intercooling. If it comes down to space as it often does then the stock air box is very large compared...

Re: Low MR2's
Is it not for reasons like the driveshafts catching body parts? My mates mk1 golf did this on coil overs but then he didnt have equal length shafts and it was the longer shaft that rubbed.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Air con removed, easy to put back?
Mine had been decommissioned by just removing the belt but I suspect the condensor is shot aswell as I fitted a new belt but nothing happens. Its been in the garage now for 18 months as I have had other projects but a new condensor is on my list, over £250 though best price I can find.

Re: mr2 sills- going to have a go (also respray)
Dont forget to repair the inner structure aswell. These sills rot from the inside out and there are about 4 peices of metal coming together that will be rotted through. I made up cardboard templates then bent up the peices I needed, had to cut a much larger hole in the outside to access all the work...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Air con removed, easy to put back?
If the pipes are there and in good shape I would give it a go. Dont bother with a second hand condensor but the rest can be bought second hand. It will ba a large bill. Try to find a compressor from a car that has had working air con recently so its still clean inside with oil in. Blow the pipes thr...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] bolt on hks bov adapter??
I saw a picture the other day of a BOV mounted to the standard valve, I guess the standard valve had been gutted and was just working as an addapter, it has a standard round pipe outlet that goes to the air intake but could be used to mount a different BOV. Unless there is a way to make the stock on...

Re: High mileage Mk2 Turbo - would you?
Bought my turbo on 91k and considered it very low miles, its been spot on. My wifes N/A REV1 did 189k before a crash took it out and I bought my S4 on 138k and its not missed a beat in 10k. I would consider any car thats 10+ years old with less than 100k to be low mileage not high.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Were to get decent pads for n/a
Its what I said initially, inertia. Inertia is the property of an object to resist a change in the motion it currently has, if that motion is acceleration then the more of it the more forces (friction etc) are needed to change the state of the object. If your rate of acceleration is higher then you ...

Re: aircon not working (yeah I know :p)
Is this with the engine running and the AC on? AC has to have been on for a few minutes for it to read accurate. Its in the red but thats not a worry today with the air temperature we have, I think the gauge is only supposed to work up to 28 degrees. Does it move (lower) when you rev the engine? Th...
