Re: 2gr v6

The non immobilised/blank ECU makes life a lot easier. And a shame it's in the Netherlands, but these days deliveries throughout Europe are easy enough. Only sold my entire 2GR MR2 for £1500 more. I keep telling myself it was worth it to see it go to a genuine enthusiast. Done right these engines ju...

Re: Exhaust options for a 1MZFE mr2

Get AAS to make the proper backbox to mate to the manifolds anything else you will be unhappy with.

I had a Fujitsubo and to me it was still way too loud. Got Stuart at AAS to do mine on the 2GR and it was perfect.

Book it in and have a night in Newcastle

Hi Jon,

My apologies I was a rather busy chap back then and somehow missed your pm. If you fancy having a look at them and see if anything can be done it would be appreciated.

[Mk2] [Generic] Who made these electronic gauges?

I've been having a clearout at home and came across these: http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a341/leewa79/temporary_zpsfpekolkq.jpg I bought them quite some time ago from a company in the US. From what I remember they cost me an absolute fortune and took about a year to arrive. They were to go in pl...

Re: Standard or Modified (bodykits) ?

Good wheels with good offsets and a subtle drop is all you need. :thumleft:

Bodykits for the Mk2 can tend to make them look heavy and slab sided. All in my opinion of course

Re: Tin top owners - any regret over lack of T-Bar?

If you haven't had a t-bar you won't miss it. If you have, you will. I think the comments about weight and stiffness are much of a muchness. I think above sums it up for me. I thought I wouldn't miss the T-bar, but it's a really great compromise especially if you sort out the seals and it doesn't l...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Retrofitting cruise control

I also looked into it, but for the hassle involved as above much easier to go with a generic aftermarket kit activated by the cruise stalks. With the turbo you'd probably need a small vacuum pump (I got one from a range rover) as the actuators are vacuum driven. Bit of a problem when your manifold g...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Where have all the mk2 turbo exhausts gone??

Mental!! You have one of the best custom exhaust manufacturers in the UK an hour up the A1 from you Craig! My convoluted and difficult to make V6 exhaust had: Y pipe section with 3 flexi sections Pre silencer Custom backbox with twin exits (not an off the shelf jobby) For £600. A much simpler Turbo ...

Re: I'm Back!

Hey Luke! Good to see you in another MR2! I think Fizz occasionally visits these forums but has been absent for a while! Keep the BBS's. I know they are a pain in the ar$e to clean but just feel the difference in weight between them and most other wheels. They are also as rare as rocking horse poo i...

Good ones seem to be fetching top money, starting to think I sold mine too cheap looking at the price of a decent turbo now.

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] WS Widebody

Hi Paul

Would arches with less 'wideness' be a lot less work or is it pretty much the same no matter what width you go for?

Those arches are pretty extreme but if I was to get another Mk2 I'd like to go wider arched by 25mm or so but keep the arches looking as OEM as possible.

Is it a go-er?

Hey Allan! I imagine that the spring has pinged off but given the strength of the assist you may struggle to get it back to where it should be.

I think I have a spare in the garage, will be up your way next Sunday if that's any good to you?

Re: Mk2 2gr supercharged

This looks terrific Paul! Whats the colour scheme? I always fancied going TRD with my Sonic Shadow I thought the 2 tone would work really well with the bodykit and include the black sidestrips to stop it looking too slab sided. Mine was a flying machine. Yours with circa 400hp with torque almost fro...

Re: Cruise Control

I was going to fit factory fit cruise to my old Turbo, but it's just a ballache if it never came fitted with it. The suggestion above is what I planned to do with a WAECO unit. Problem was they use vacuum to power the actuator. No good with a turbo as you get positive pressure on the intake manifold...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Electrical gremlins visitation.

Are you 100% sure the alternator is to blame and you put a £10 multimeter across the battery to see you were getting 14V when engine is running? I hope so because alternator changeout is a ballache. Dropping subframe etc was easy enough but could I hell get the alternator off the pivot point without...

Re: Dome fuse keeps blowing

The fuse for the alarm is part of the 'dome' circuit according to the EWD I have. So if you pull the dome fuse it should kill the alarm system.

I've never seen a factory alarm system and amazed some still work!

It's definitely worth doing. It was a 30th birthday present to myself also a test just to see if I could do it.

I'll be doing something again in the future for sure.

Re: Rev4 Sonic Shadow 3.5L VVTi V6

A long overdue update! Well since I bought the car back the car has done precisely 220 miles. However in that time she has seen quite a bit of pampering! Got fed up of dealing with seized calipers, either the piston seizing, the sliders seizing, pain in the ar$e they are. So a full set of refurbishe...
