Re: [Mk2] [NA] 2GR-FE conversion against 3S-GTE conversion

I've got to say, I've heard a V6 MK2 and whilst it sounds nice, for my tastes, the whooshing of a turbo going right behind your head with the right exhaust note can't be beaten. The BOV going off (re-circ, tyvm.) when you let off the pedal too, just makes it feel awesome. That and there's something...

Re: Rev 5 tubby

The car has gone for way under book price and no doubt he will be happy to gloat about it in the future. He may seem like an enthusiast but I give it 12 months before it's back up for sale with an extra £1500 on the price 'as he tidied it up'. This, sadly, is all too true  You posted just as I...

Re: Rev 5 tubby

Yes more fool you if you go through with it. Without his final bid, it would have sold for £100 less to someone else. I might have been annoyed about having to relist it, but £2,250 is better than £2,150. And to be fair to the guy, he seems like a good bloke (he's been and picked the car up now) Ve...

Re: Best v6 or v8 to buy?

Just out of curiosity i'd like to know what you did with the accelerator pedal, seeing as the 2gr is dbw. I remember reading the first thread with the guy, gouky i think? but I forgot what he did to get around the dbw issue. You use the original DBW throttle pedal and mount it in the footwell with ...

Re: Best v6 or v8 to buy?

There is 3 homebuilds going on in the UK as far as I'm aware at the moment. I think mine was the 1st homebuild in the UK. On cars mechanically the most I'd done was change a camshaft in an 84 VW Polo and electrically it was wiring in a car stereo. There is much more 2GR swap information available on...

Re: Best v6 or v8 to buy?

Ta chaps, it has certainly suprised a few on the Pistonhead runs with how it goes. I just wish I had chance to use it more often :D I reckon it can be done for way less than £10K. If there is another group buy over on Twobrutal I can easily see it been done for less than 5K if you start with a donor...

Re: Legal advice - NEW DEVELOPMENTS - Further Update!

That's good news!

Have you received the money for reimbursing you for the petrol/time off work yet?
My experience with the courts is that it's simple enough getting an order for people to recompense you, far more difficult to get the individual to actually pay out.

Re: Rethreading Turbo lid rain tray screws - Any ideas??

Try Rivnuts, they work a treat on 90% of stuff I've had to sort on mine. You drill out the old hole to a larger diameter and insert these much like a rivet but with the required thread running though the middle of it. It holds on thin materials very well through a mix of clamping and cutting into th...

Look up Rivnuts, great way of replacing knackered threads in the chassis.

An interesting project I'd have thought would be a 3s-gte block married up to a Rotrex SC.

Re: Squeaky wiper blades

You'd think it's make it worse, as a washed dish usually squeaks when running a finger over it? :-k

Heard of white vinegar too, but to be honest the best option I found was the Bosch wipers (not halfords) and they didn't squeak for at least 2-3 years use.

Strange, I've been in touch via email, think his mobile number is on his site.
Maybe not ideal but it's probably the easiest and fastest way to get hold of him.

Re: Alcantara Dash Retrim *Gauging Interest*

You'd probably be best contacting Steve via email or call direct as he's a pretty busy chap these days and is probably unaware this thread has had a bit of a revival. :thumleft: He's based in Rugby and I think he has an exchange service on dashboards where he spends out an already trimmed dash in a ...

Re: Alloy radiators - what's the quality like?

Can you supply some more information on your PWR rad? Where did you buy it? And how should I interpret a so so fitment? Any modifications to the mounting points required? TBH the bottom support bar on the chassis that the radiator sits on was a replacement after mine had been off the road at some p...

Re: Alloy radiators - what's the quality like?

Various standards of fitment, luck of the draw on that one, but can't be any worse than the pattern replacements that last 3/4 years if you're lucky.
Mishimoto and the Koyo's have conflicting reports, the PWR I have seems excellent quality build wise, but the fit was only so so too.

Do Rogue not use LSC Interiors? Bit like they used a 3rd party for the bodykit stuff?
I think both are sound choices, so consideration to location and what materials and price will sway your decision.

Have a look at my garage to see photo's of my interior by Edge interiors. For what you are wanting dependant on materials your budget needs to be around £1000-£1200 steve will want more than that, he did my dash in my old v6 (cardhore now has that), steve quoted about £500 to do some evo 4 recaros,...

Re: DIDSM's Mint Mk1b - Ultimate Dilemma?

Looking at that it's definitly garage queen material. Looks as it did when it left the factory.Amazing!

If you want to drive one, get a less immaculate one that has a few miles under its belt. Then if that inevitably picks up the odd stone chip or parking ding you won't be too upset over it.
