Re: [Mk2] [NA] The 'Best' Petrol for a MK2 NA?
Interesting read - i normally run the car on either v-power or tesco super but recently ended up having to fill the car with a tank of 'normal' tesco unleaded (or i could have walked home i suppose :clown: ) but to be honest i didnt notice any difference to the normal fuel. I'm sure i'll still go ba...

Re: Porsche Boxster drivers - bigger knobs than Beemer drivers?
Hmmm, interesting comments people have made here. Personally i've never driven a boxter myself but a colleague at work has a facelifted one (55 plate) and i think it looks like a very nice car - certainly much nicer than my MR2 - but it did cost 38k  so it should be. Its not a disgrace to the...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Spal fans - diy kit
I've been noticing that it doesnt seem to take very much to get what seem like very hot engine bay temps - engine lid is too hot to touch after a bit of 'spirited' driving. And was wondering if its worth putting a 10" spal fan or similar in the more open part of the rain shield? Anyone done som...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Woohoo!!! My car passed its mot!!!

Re: [Mk2] [NA] How much for a good rev 3 tubby?
My first thought was that it was a bit pricey - but then it looks like its a very nice example and the rebuild plus forged internals is a very good thing to have. As reece said - go have a look. As to prices otherwise - it seems to me that 4k plus will get you a good example of a rev 3 turbo, of cou...

Re: Audi 'experience'
Its generally the usual TDi fag's Nick T otal D ickheads I nside It seems that any oil burner with over 250 lb/ft of uber-torque seems to imbue its driver with an "I own the road" attitude. They're generally the sort of t0ssers that turn left from the right hand lane at a rounabout in ord...

Hahahaaaaaa hahahahaaaaa Good joke buddy, im wiping away the tears. No seriously its a drag monster is a 172 :clown: Im sure they're great cars and tbh i'd have one as a town car or at least have a look into the possibility as people do seem to rave about them - and not all of them wear baseball cap...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Turbo vs N/a
In my experience - owned a mk1 na, mk2 rev 1 na and a mk2 rev3 turbo - so far having only had the tubby 6 months, apart from fuel the running costs have been similar between the 2 mk2's, insurance is about the same (in fact it was more expensive for the rev 1 NA, but that could be down to having it ...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Turbo vs N/a
Lol at keeping a turbo off boost etc and holding the rev's - i said things like that, then i bought one  As to fuel comsumption, i dont think my rev3 turbo is hugely worse on fuel than my rev1 G-ltd, but it was defo running rich. For 3-3.5k i think you'd be lucky to get a really nice rev3 t...

[All] [Generic] MOT and the law
I've just renewed my car tax for 12 months, my mot is still valid for another month and have booked the car in as a matter of routine for this weekend. My question is - what happens if i cancel this and just mot the car next year - is this legal or does the car require a valid mot for the nex 11mont...

Excellent stuff! Looks like a rev2 to me with the coloured side strips If its a rev 1 it'll have a really nasty steering wheel and a tall gear stick

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Does the tubby still run fine on 97 ron instead of the 99 stuff?
I've found no difference running my car on the tesco high octane or the v-power (other than a few £££). I heard somewhere that PH did a trial of different 'performance' fuels for MPG and power etc over a couple of months or something similar.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Buying Advice / Common Faults
Common things that i've noticed on cars i've seen are that the clutch will tend to squeek when used that you can get a bit of wind noise around the wing mirrors - nothing major i know, major stuff like proof of servicing and cam belts has already been said. Oh, and if you go for a t-bar - it WILL le...
