Re: are all evo drivers big heads

Something for us to look forward to when we are rich enough to spend £13000+ on a car. Don't insult me, my good man. My evo was £23,500, all bought and paid for up front. The last time an MR2 was worth that was when it could have been considered a contemporary sports car. £23k! You were ripped off ...

Re: are all evo drivers big heads

If you moved to the EVO, move to the EVO forum, bother them!

I'd rather be a hairdresser than be a passenger in the drivers seat!!

So many driver A.I.D.S it's amazing. Oops!

Re: Experience driving back from getting downpipe fitted - oops

Technically, a "back"fire is when the explosion happens whilst the inlet valves are open and the exhaust valves are closed (detonation can cause it) and the exploded gases travel out through the intake system rather than the exhaust system thus travelling "backwards" hence "...

Re: rare

There is something about that pink interior that doesn't look right. I think it may be a home-spray job? ...or has someone verified it's factory?

I think you can remove the red material from the 'teg and put it through the wash with a black dye; that would look cool.

Re: Replaceing Eagle F1 tyres but to what????

I wonder if there's a difference between the 185 60 14's and the 195 55 15 and 225 50 15 combination on my Turbo because on the Turbo they are, bang for bucks, excellent.

Re: Replaceing Eagle F1 tyres but to what????

They do race them, and although they get rubbish track reviews, what you are describing sounds more like a combination of over-inflation and a poor tyre. Sounds like you are unlucky. It seems a little bit 'sensational' to be honest? as if anyone who inflates their tyre to 38psi (which is a fair bit ...

Re: Replaceing Eagle F1 tyres but to what????

Falken ZE 512's are the ones they use in the Challenge racing, and whilst they are not great track/race tyres, they are great on the road (I have them on my Turbo). Check out this link... they are £28 EACH INC VAT!!! http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m4b0s398p0 As I said, I can vouch for t...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] !!! REV2 Turbo Mappable ECU !!!

I take it YOU will be offering to pay for engine rebuilds if people play with the software on their own (much like messing with an SAFC if they don't know what they are doing!) and end up blowing up their engines???? Hmm I thought not. What a silly little thing to say? The e-manage ultimate is not ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] !!! REV2 Turbo Mappable ECU !!!

I think you need to wind you're neck in Mr Angry! E-manage ultimate... again, it's another ECU fooling system, it takes the signals destined for the ECU, and modifies them to make the ECU do something *different* to what Toyota intended. When the VE goes over a certain level and the ECU wo...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] !!! REV2 Turbo Mappable ECU !!!

Part of me is actually getting worried. I know his place was flooded in the recents floods, so it might be worth making a phone call or something? I just feel like I don't want to 'push' it by calling. If he has chosen to not come on the boards, that's a clear enough declaration of intent isn't it? ...

Re: MR2 Turbo VS Honda Integra Type R???

Yay! I quite agree! Regarding the 'sporty' feel, I think it's the whole 2-seater cockpit, where you have the doors, and ventre tunnel and everything cocooning you, I think that's what I mean... I have a '55 plate Fiesta ST to potter round in now aswell as the '2, and that's got the 150bhp version of...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] !!! REV2 Turbo Mappable ECU !!!

Scaring them off the S-AFC II product? Good!! It's not a very good unit, and not very useful to the 3SGTE Rev1+2 engine at all. Fair enough you can lower the fuel pressure, but at what cost? Firstly, those 440cc injectors that used to be capable of supplying fuel at 85% duty for 300bhp are suddenly ...

Re: MR2 Turbo VS Honda Integra Type R???

Teg is awesome, and will do all the things you require - except keep up with a 300bhp Rev3 turbo!! The TEG does a great job of feeling like an awesomely fast car until you do a 30mph roll on against the tweaked turbo, I know, we've done it. Coming from a turbo, you'll notice that it feels like you'v...

Re: Exhaust flexi busted or something else?

If your dump valve is "stuck open" for arguments sake, it will allow air back into the uncompressed side of the turbo after the air filter and before the compressor housing. This will allow the turbo to spin and spin and spin the same air in a circle, NEVER producing boost that opens the w...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Rev 2 Turbo - Tuning. What would be the best route to take??

Rev1 and 2 engines are different. The Rev1 will make around 200bhp, whereas the Rev2 will more reliably make 220. Cylinder head was better on the rev2, smoothing out the combustion chambers preventing 'hotspots' causing detonation. Also the throttle body is larger on the Rev2. HTH. The most powerful...

Re: Porsche Boxster drivers - bigger knobs than Beemer drivers?

The very fact we always agreed with that, have never said anything contrary to that statement, agree entirely with it, proves difinitively that this is a personal and sustained attack on the MK2 Turbo. I think the community is tired of hearing it from you now TBH. Not true at all. I really do tire ...

Re: MR2 Turbo VS Honda Integra Type R???

/back to the fun...

Assuming both teg and MR2 are 200ps (BEAMS being most likely here...)

Power to weight...

Teg - 200ps/1045 x 1000 = 191ps/tonne
MR2 - 200ps/1310 x 1000 = 153ps/tonne.
